Peaceful country homestead

May 27th, 2019

A group of us stayed at Quamby Estate the night before our Bay of Fires Walk. This is the ideal place to stay if going on the walk and the initial meeting point on the morning of the walk is in one of the buildings on the estate. Our hosts, Emma and Sarah warmly welcomed us on our arrival and ensured we had a great stay. Our room (deluxe) was large, spacious and nicely furnished – it included a large spa bath in the room as well as a bathroom with a shower. The room was clean and very comfortable. The homestead is located within a large park so we went for a very pleasant walk, followed by afternoon tea in the shade of one of the large trees in the garden. The house has been extensively renovated and furnished to reflect its history and there are several lounge rooms to relax in. Evening drinks on the outside veranda were followed by an excellent dinner. One night is not enough to do Quamby Estate justice, next time we will spend a few days here. Highly recommended TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Home from home

May 8th, 2019

My wife and I stayed at this lovely old homestead for a few days before doing the Overland Track. Right from the outset, Emma and Sarah were warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. There is a lovely cosy room with a roaring log fire which was perfect for a pre dinner drink and chat. Food is delicious, however the menu has limited options so this could be an issue for very long stays but didn't bother us in the slightest. Emma was always on hand for advice on lunch spots, and things to do, always with a smile on her face. We returned after the walk to a cheery " welcome home" and an upgraded room with a spa, both of which were just what we needed after the walk. Would highly recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A welcome home

Apr 24th, 2019

Our stay was simply amazing from the moment we entered the front door, we were treated more like returning family or long lost friends. Sarah and Emma are amazing hosts with every detail taken care of, both have amazing personalities and a genuine desire to get to know their guests. Using the whole house to make your stay more like a home away from home with breakfast and dinners served in more intimate parts of the house or taking tea or coffee in one of the lounge areas. The food and service were fantastic thanks again Sarah and Emma for making our 5th Wedding Anniversary a day to cherish. Jeanine & Greg TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bay Of Fires Walk

Apr 12th, 2019

Very Welcoming Four of us stayed here for one night prior to our walk. Emma and Sarah were so welcoming on our arrival and our rooms were lovely. Dinner was a disappointment for three of us. Beef Borguignon was tasteless and our steaks were not steak they were slices of beef and tough. My husband asked for his mushroom sauce on the side but it came poured over his meal. The Salmon on Risotto was however very successful and tasty. Desert was also disappointing. Sticky date pudding so small and also tasteless and my Affogato while being delicious I was charged and extra $5 for the liqueur!?! Breakfast. The continental was a choice of two packet cereals. No jam, no fresh fruit, no yogurt and again an extra $5 if you wanted barista coffee. Cooked was bacon eggs (only poached) no choices, mushrooms and tomatoes. The poached eggs were cooked using to much vinegar so couldn’t be eaten and were served cold. I’m really disappointed as it was the most beautiful setting and our welcome on arrival had great potential for a wonderful experience which didn’t eventuate. There were only 8 guests staying so no excuses for being busy. The food really let the place down. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Unique Experience

Mar 30th, 2019

Quamby Estate is set in a lovely rural area. This gracious old homestead is an experience not to be missed. Our hosts, Emma and Sarah were just delightful and warmly welcomed us on our arrival. The house itself is beautifully appointed with period furnishings and great attention to detail; just like stepping back into another era. The entrance to the homestead is lined by old oak trees ending in a circular drive. We stayed two nights and ate here on both occasions. The food was delicious and is a tribute to Sarah's cullinary skills. Our room was large and airy with a window overlooking a cottage garden. The ensuite was large, modern and very well appointed with floor heating and a spa. This was a truly memorable stay and we wish the girls every success with this venture. We would love to return sometime. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
