Terrible

Dec 5th, 2019

In all honestly, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The quality of the room is awful, and there is no security. The main door to the building is meant to be opened by key card, so only people staying in the hotel can get in. However the lock for the main door is broken and the door is often left open throughout the day, so any random person could walk in. There was also a little door leading to a garden area in some rooms, which also do not lock, and was once left open by the maid when she cleaned our room, so anyone could’ve walked into our room. Certainly not worth the price at all. This is a shame as it is in such a lovely area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Central location but the quality sucks

Nov 10th, 2019

Very very good location, cannot get much better. But the quality of the rooms and the service at the counter was awful. I thought that a 3star rating would be better, at least no mould in the showers. Would not book here again.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good stay for the price

Nov 8th, 2019

Me and my partner stayed here for 4 nights, self catering. Room is good, we only use the hotel for a bed and a shower, so it’s never overly important for us, but bed was comfy and shower was great. Although we were on the bottom floor and it was very hot at night. Maybe aircon should be fitted into the lower rooms? Would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent location. Dreadful hotel.

Nov 3rd, 2019

The location is perfect for exploring Amsterdam. Hundreds of bars and restaurants in walking distance, as well as the museum quarter, stunning canals and excellent links to all public transport. That is where the positives end. The hotel is awful, run down, shabby and unclean. The room we were allocated was very small (not too much of a problem) but filthy. Dust all over everything, stains on the furnishings, hairs on the bed and bathroom and a huge patch of black mould on the ceiling (about 50cm). The lock on the window was flimsy and the windows and sills were filthy. I complained to reception immediately but was told that there were no other rooms available. And that I was free to make a complaint if I wished. We had paid prior to arrival, but if we hadn’t we would not have stayed. We got some cleaning products and gave the place a freshen up, and literally only slept in the room during our stay. We would not choose to stay in this hotel again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location! Lacking basic hygiene

Oct 18th, 2019

To begin, here are the positives. This hotel is in a great location, being a 10 minute walk away from Dam Square and less than 5 away from restaurants and shops. It has a lovely view outside, as it is located next to the canal. The room was pretty basic but spacious enough for two people, and the bed was super comfy. Moving on... Being a 2 star hotel, our only expectation was that it was clean. It wasn’t! The bed throw and head board was covered in numerous stains, with cigarette burn holes. The walls surrounding the bed were also stained. The curtains had what looked like blood stains and the bathroom was filthy, including the ‘clean’ towels provided. The mugs provided were that filthy, we had to purchase plastic cups to drink from. As we had already waited 15 minutes for a member of staff to arrive at the front desk before checking us in, we accepted the room knowing we would only be using this to sleep in. My friend purchased a can of Coke from the vending machine provided within the hotel, which was over a year out of date!! When we took this to reception, they replaced the can with another, which was also out of date. Finally we were given a fresh one. We were not notified of any building work that was happening around the hotel, we were made aware of this when opening the curtains to find scaffolding outside of our balcony. This made the room feel very unsafe, as there was access to the room via this. Moreover, on the following day, we were woken up abruptly at 8.00am by workmen standing outside on the scaffolding. They were shouting loudly to each other, drilling and banging. This was directly outside of our room, leaving us unable to open the curtains and feeling vulnerable. To repeat, good location and views when scaffolding isn’t there, but poorly run and dirty! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
