Fun property in a restored convent

Jan 16th, 2020

The Quinta Real was a unique property in a restored convent. The grounds were spacious and well landscaped and the included buffet breakfast was quite nice. I also had two good meals in the dining room. My room was small but quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, there are not enough electrical outlets and they are difficult to access. The hotel is well located and the staff was friendly. I spent three nights there with a Road Scholar group and was very satisfied, although I might not have stayed here on my own due to the rather high price. I enjoyed the ambiance of an historic property. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No way

Jan 8th, 2020

No way this hotel is worth it. Outrageously expensive and yet tiny rooms, miniscule bathrooms, dated furniture. But worst of all, despite its beautiful grounds, it's cold in both temperature and in charm. It's all men. Not a woman in sight. The men in charge can hardly be bothered to help you. The doormen loiter around the dark small entry, shooting the breeze and half glaring at you, coming and going. For women, it feels creepy. This place needs new management, new lights and a complete redo. It could be awesome but it's a mile from it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

16th Century Gem

Jan 4th, 2020

This property is a must stay while In Oaxaca. It is a 16 century converted convent which is absolutely stunning from an architectural perspective. The lobby area is convenient and user-friendly. The room in which we stayed was small but comfortable. All amenities including an extremely comfortable bed are present. The bathroom, while small, is perfectly appropriate for this property. Do yourself a favor and ask for a room overlooking the courtyard. Common areas of the hotel are incredibly gorgeous, including the beautifully situated swimming pool. The restaurant overlooks the courtyard, and has inside and outdoor seating. The breakfast buffet was incredible, and the lunch and dinner service was absolutely terrific. It is difficult to overstate how beautifully prepared the food was, with a selection second to none. The location of the Hotel is well worth the price of admission. Arts, culture, parks and shopping are within easy walking distance. This is an extremely well run property which is not to be missed. Elegant property with varying room standards

Dec 28th, 2019

A spectacular repurposed convent in the heart of town. We had two rooms and stayed four nights. The service from waiters, bellmen and housekeepers was friendly and professional. Front desk and check-in, however, were rather chilly and unwelcoming. The rooms vary widely - one of ours was small and overlooked the pool (entailing noise and lack of privacy) while the other was more spacious and was on a quiet courtyard. So when booking, try to be specific about what room you are getting. Overall a very enjoyable stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Charm and comfort galore

Dec 24th, 2019

I spent 3 comfortable, quiet nights here during the week (no weddings scheduled). Lovely courtyards (including the largest, with a pool), with dining tables set next to one of them, which made for a wonderful breakfast setting. Terrific buffet breakfast, from custom made omelets to smoked salmon, and good fruit too. In house travel agency for local tours -- the one to Monte Alban was excellent. Extremely helpful front desk staff. Great restaurants within walking distance nearby. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
