Fabulous

Nov 5th, 2019

This hotel is set in the most stunning grounds and we were so lucky to have booked to stay there. We stayed in a stunning suite in the Manor House. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly. We loved having a drink on the terrace overlooking the gardens and the meals we had while staying were delicious. We regret not having the tasting menu on offer but at least that gives us an excuse to return! Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect for a quiet relaxed break

Nov 3rd, 2019

From the moment we arrived until we left the hotel could not do enough for us. Even though it is quite near the centre it is a quiet oasis - with wonderful gardens. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would certainly stay here again if we returned to Funchal. We arrived at the hotel (after an early flight!) just before 10am and - this was a first for us - they sent us off for breakfast while they hurried up to make the room ready. This meant we had the whole of that first day to spend out and about. As well as the two pools there is a spa (with steam room, sauna and jacuzzi) which we used regularly (and always had it to ourselves - probably because we went over dinner time). We stayed in a garden room (the 'lowest' category) and it was absolutely fine. You could sit on your terrace in an evening and just see the flowers and trees. If you turn left out the hotel entrance and follow the road down hill it bends round to the right and, about 5-10 min walk, you come to a cafe called "Momentum". This is well worth a visit (well used by locals) as the coffee (and cakes and other food) is very good quality and very reasonable. (Next door there is a supermarket - again used by locals - and the prices are cheaper than you will see at the various Spar supermarkets you'll see elsewhere). You will get used to walking up and down hills! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tranquillity

Five star hotel situated in stunning extensive botanical gardens close to the centre of Funchal. Blend of a modern hotel and an older original grand house. Bedroom had nice view over the gardens. Breakfast can be taken outside in the walled garden. The team were welcoming. Plenty of car parking space. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exceptional place and atmosphere

Hospitable doesn't even come close to expressing the warmth of the staff at Casa Branca. I stayed here with my partner for his 55th birthday and loved every minute. The facilities are excellent, the grounds are astounding and put the fabled botanical gardens to shame. Most of all though it is about the staff:- Charming, Accommodating, Friendly, Funny, passionate about the Quinta and it's guests. I have run out of superlatives. Just go stay there, you will see what I mean. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous - I'll be back!

Oct 27th, 2019

My friend and I stayed for a week at the end of September/beginning of October. We had a fantastic time. The gardens are exquisite and as we both enjoy our own gardens it was amazing. The plants and trees are well labelled too. The rooms were lovely and great food. Totally enjoyed the banana irrigation experience on the Wednesday morning, Courteous staff who all go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Am so looking forward to a return trip. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
