Beautiful hotel but there are issues.

I love Malta and it’s abundance of great restaurants and history. We usually stay at the Hilton but decided to give the Radisson blu a try for a change. Setting is idyllic and views are perfect. Rooms clean and spacious with good housekeeping service. Breakfast is fresh with plenty of choice and friendly staff. However the pools are quite small and without the beach club there are not enough beds to go round. Not usually a problem but when they host a function (today there are 3) and shut this facility it does cause issues. Firstly as a guest staying here at quite high prices a service is being taken away which has already been paid for this in itself should qualify for recompense. Secondly if a sign goes up saying that an area is to be shut at 4 then that’s what it should do. I have just witnessed a guest being very unpleasant to a manager because she was asked to leave the pool at half past 2 this was upsetting for the manager who was not responsible and surrounding guests such as myself. Also I am sitting here watching the chairs disappear from the pool bar more than an hour before the advertised closing time! We have been forced back into our room on the penultimate day of our holiday basically because there is nowhere to sit hence plenty of time to write this review. Bar has great views but don’t visit if you are in a hurry! Wait time fir a simple glass if wine is often more than 10 minutes and it takes a lifetime to get the bill! a great holiday and pretty hotel but I’ll be back at the Hilton next time where we have seen many weddings hosted without inconvenience to guests. Not 5 Star

Some parts of our stay were good but others fell far short of a 5 star experience. The positive was a stunning view from our room which was cleaned daily (but the linen was stained with holes in it. Also housekeeping turned our air conditioning off every day so we always returned to a hot room). The staff in the breakfast area were friendly and attentive. Also the manager Raymond on duty towards the end of our stay provided very good customer service. Unfortunately the service in the other restaurants and bars let the hotel down. The Edge and the Bridge were particularly unfriendly and the service was poor. Staff there seemed to just not care. After being taken to our pre-booked table we were not given menus. Others came in after and we had to go and ask for menus. When our food finally arrived none of the waiters bothered to come back to our table to check if the food was okay and we were not asked if we had enjoyed our meal. The biggest disappointment though was the 'spa' area which is basically a tired looking indoor pool full of unsupervised children jumping off inflatables. There is a sauna but again there are screaming kids running in and out of it. No chance of adults relaxing in that area. Signs say that children under 16 must be supervised but staff don't care if this happens or not. Besides I don't really understand why children are allowed in a spa area anyway? The gym is not well air conditioned and therefore too hot to access. There is an extra charge to use the 'body pump' room so we didn't bother. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Would highly recommend this excellent hotel!

What a fantastic hotel! Amazing location, excellent efficient and friendly staff (especially Mija and Daniella in the Bridge who knew what we drank within a couple of days - 2 Pale Ales and a Gin & Skinny Tonic) - clean comfortable rooms, tea and coffee in the room, I could go on and on. We had dinner at 'The Edge' which was one of the most amazing and romantic experiences we have ever had (been married 30 years!) where we had wonderful food, breath taking views and watched the moon come up over the sea, it was just incredible. We have travelled a fair amount over the years and I have to say this was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. A big thank you to the staff for making it an unforgettable experience for all the right reasons! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

On arrival they had not got our room ready as we had only just booked the hotel 2 days prior and there was a mishap, for this they upgraded us to a better corner room with a large balcony, sea view with two patio doors, they also sat us in the bar and we got drinks on the house while we waited. The room is large enough for a family of 4 as there was a king size bed and a sofa bed. The breakfast is the best, there is so much selection there is plenty of all, my two children who are picky eaters have plenty to choose from, they especially love the kids corner which is all children’s breakfast favourites set up on smaller tables for the little ones to reach. Anyone who says the breakfast isn’t the best at raddison are wrong in my eyes. The staff are very friendly and we have always had wonderful experiences with raddison blu in Malta. We usually stay at the golden sands and they are both as nice as each other. We will certainly be returning to Malta and we will only ever stay in raddison from now on. I would recommend this hotel for all, my children love it as there are 3 pools outdoors and one indoors with a jacuzzi. There’s something for all. The only downside is there is no beach but you can still enter the sea if you want a swim in the sea. Golden sands has a private section of beach if that is what your looking for. Fabulous hotel and resort in a great location. We stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and enjoyed every minute of it. Loved relaxing on sun loungers looking out to sea watching all the ships and boats passing by or taking a dip in the sea or pools. Staff very friendly and we kindly received an upgrade to a room with an amazing sea view. Very clean and well looked after, room cleabed every day. The only small thing I'd say is pressure in shower isnt great. Would definitely recommend staying here youll not be disappointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
