Great Staff, Shabby Hotel

Jul 15th, 2019

The staff I was able to talk to were amazing and helpful. However, for two days before a major convention was coming to town, the hotel was completely unreachable even via corporate because they were changing phone providers. I requested a room with a microwave and fridge since not every room has one and they were able to do so. The bed sheets and towels were clean, but everything else in the room is pretty beat up and stained. The carpet, walls, and door in the entry way were dented, stained, and scratched while the closet door was barely held on with a screw. The pool area has been closed for at least a full year. The building use to be a Radisson (and a Ramada before that), but it has been a Red Lion Hotel for at least 1 year and the phones and driveway sign still say Radisson (theres a tarp over the sign that says Red Lion, but you can still see Radisson when its lit at night). The hotel use to have a continental breakfast and shuttle, but did not provide these at the time of my stay. I'd also like to note that, while the AC units in the rooms worked great, the main level did not have air conditioning at all, so it made their restaurant and lobby very uncomfortable and I felt bad for their staff. It's located on the Dash Shuttle line, is a 10 minute walk to downtown Hartford and the CT science museum and convention center, and right next to the baseball stadium and XL center. It's easy access to the highway and charge $17/night for parking at the time of my stay in July 2019. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Might as well slept in my rental car......

Jun 12th, 2019

So, the pool is “closed for the season”, it’s green and I’ve dubbed it the green bath. The room....... oh boy, the AC unit barely works. Couldn’t set the thermostat because the batteries were dead for the wall unit. The furniture looks second or maybe even third hand..... not sure what’s up with the toilet but it bubbles and gargles back up at you when you flush. The lobby was stifling and the “bar” is permanently closed. Really hard to do a meet and greet with coworkers from other operations when there’s no place to meet. This hotel should be ashamed. Slapping a new name tag on a turd doesn’t make it any less of a turd...... if I could give negative stars it would get -5 on a 0-5 scale. Crappy vending machines with cans of soda and the overall decor is grossly outdated. This place is a complete joke! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location

May 7th, 2019

Just stayed one night, did not really use much of the facilities. Basically slept there for a few hours. Clean, convenient. Was there for a concert and this was one of the closet hotels to the venue, quick Uber ride TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A pleasant stay. Great location.

Apr 12th, 2019

I came in from out-of-town for the NCAA tournament basketball games. We booked this hotel through an online site. The prices were very, very reasonable considering the event that was going on. This apparently used to be a Radisson hotel. I read some reviews online and I was a bit worried, however, I have come to learn that some people perhaps are never satisfied. We had a pleasant stay. The room was nice, clean. The restaurant wasn't opened, but I don't eat in hotel restaurants. I like to see what the city has to offer. Fitness center was adequate with a variety of free weights and nautilus equipment. Enough to get a good workout. Also, parking. People complain about it. I'm not sure I have ever been in a downtown core that doesn't charge for parking. Who thinks parking is free in downtown areas? It was $17 which is fair. I paid $60 in Chicago!!! (Tip: there is a parking lot next to the hotel and near the baseball field. It is free after 6PM and free on weekends.) I was able to get out and about walking around the city confines. Very accessible. I would definitely stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Terribly Run Hotel, false advertisement, STAY AWAY!

Mar 25th, 2019

Falsely advertised as a 3.5 star, but it's not. The Restaurant has been shut down, it has no coffee pots in the guestrooms, hardly any staff, one staff who attends to everything, rude staff, dirty hotel. I booked it blindly and read that there is plenty of food in the surrounding, but all of this is a lie. The management seems to not care about customer concerns. I saw someone in the parking lot who was looking for water to drink, and I had to give him water for him and his wife from my car trunk. Can you believe it? They refused to clean rooms daily, but when you call and scream at them, they come and quickly pick up. They do not understand hotel management. Dirty old much needing remodeling bathroom with slaps of terribly done plastering of mortar. Stay away, guys. Even their parking pass is ruined from overuse, so, you can hardly come in and out without stress and calling for help. I will never stay here for even a penny. Even their handicap access buttons do not work, and they don't care. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
