Good value

Ideal location in Bakersfield. The era of renovation is dated but good accommodations. Plenty of walking distance places to eat and Starbucks. Breakfast buffet is good food but small variety of offerings. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just ok

The hotel was small and had a really nice lobby. The front desk clerk was very nice and checked us in quickly. The only thing I found odd was they needed $100 for incidentals which is ridiculous. The room was very large and had one of the largest TVs I have seen in a hotel this size. The bed was horrible the mattress was flat, hard, and sunk in on one side. I woke up hurting from the bed. The breakfast was great. The bed though really lowered the rating as it is the most important item. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My "SureStay Bakersfield" Hotel experience

Hotel in the middle of nowhere and far from the city center , destination for 1 night rest in a West US trip. Rooms and breakfast were ok. Arriving late at night and leaving early next morning, nothing to add then. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

BEWARE!!! Extreme lack of Care & Concern for Guests

My wife & I enjoy travelling extensively anytime we can. We are Diamond Card Members of the Best Western Rewards program & we are usually more than satisfied with the experiences there. We checked into this particular hotel on Saturday October 12, 2019 at approximately 4pm after a long day on the road. After drifting off to sleep, I was abruptly awaken to the headboard of the bed falling off the wall and hitting me on the head. Luckily I wasn't injured but it definitely made me think "What if". We immediately called the front desk to inform them of the situation and see what would be done..........would they fix this up or move us to a different room?? We were assuming something would be done because leaving it this way would most definitely make it impossible to sleep comfortably, Unfortunately after calling numerous times & being promised that someone would be up to have a look at everything that evening - NO ONE showed up. After addressing this again at check out & calling a number of times since being home I am shocked & appalled at the lack of care & concern on the part of Best Western. Its so unfortunate that one negative experience can take away from the trust we had built up with this name over the years -- but NO ONE made it a priority to even come have a look at what happened that evening, NO ONE equipped to deal with concerns was available at the time of check out & as I mentioned - after numerous phone calls & messages since being home - NO ONE has responded in ANY WAY, I have not been able to speak with anyone at the hotel. This experience will definitely make me reconsider our future stays. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very disapointing

We stayed here in 2016 when it was the Red Lion and it was a fair place to stay but it has now been taken over by Best Western and it has gone south. We booked six nights at this hotel for the end of October, we booked on line months in advance. When we arrived to check in the girl on the desk could find no booking in our name and really could not have cared less, I had the confirmation number and booking sheet but this meant nothing to her. Finally she said she could find us a room and proceeded to charge us as if we were a new booking, when we questioned the new charge again she could not have cared less. Really disappointed with our treatment, think twice before booking here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
