Had an awesome time on the island & had amazing service at our lunch from Melushka!! :) Everyone is kind and easy to get along with. Really enjoyed our server’s recommendations and how they showed up during our stay on the island. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Few Pool Chairs, Denied Beach Access

Feb 23rd, 2020

We had just enough time to go spend 90 minutes at the beach before we had to leave if we caught the boat. We attempted to board at the helicopter pad, but they’d only allow one of us on. They only gave us one key at check-in and didn’t bother to tell us that everyone in the room needs a room key to board the boat. Apparently stating that you’re married and in the same room isn’t enough. Extremely irritating! Next we tried to go to the pool and found half of the guests having to lay on the hard tile, because they only had a few dozen chairs. Extremely disappointed in Marriott as a longtime Titanium member. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our stay at Renaissance Marina

Feb 22nd, 2020

Our first time in Aruba. We are Marriott Platinum members and stayed on points. We debated back and forth about staying in the Ocean Suites which has bigger rooms and is waterfront or the all adult Marina. We chose the Marina and are very glad we did. Main reason is the adult only vibe. It is smaller. has a quiet, classy feel to the lobby, glass elevator, casino and pool. We loved that the boat to the island comes right into the hotel lobby. We did wander over to the Ocean Suites, mainly time share owners or renters. Lots of family groups. The Ocean front was not so nice, the beach is a manmade one, no fresh water flowing in, it was a little gross to me. The pool area was always bustling, was noisy come afternoon. Loved the private island. They feed the iguanas there at noon each day, fun to watch. Good internet everywhere including the island which was a nice surprise. The food was good and could be ordered right from your chair. The burgers were delicious as was the pizza. Puzzling that on the island and in the hotel a 15% service charge was automatically added but there was a line for tips as well. We felt cheap not adding a tip but if there was already a service charge added...? The water quality on the island was disappointing. There is much seagrass and squishy patches in the water, Rocky when you walk in, I’m sure there could be something done to clear at least the largest of the rocks. They offered floats (available at 9am) which helped keep your feet off the bottom, many people put them on their chairs for extra cushioning. We talked to some who said it had gotten worse over the years, that the beach area used to be deeper but has been filled in with sand and seagrass. The area around the hotel has restaurants, shops, a movie theatre and a supermarket. Our favourite was the Dutch Pancake House for the snitzel and of course the crepes (pancakes). The rooms at the Marina Renaissance were small but cozy. The bed and bedding was so comfortable, the toiletries good quality. Puzzling was that there was a “fridge” in the room that did not get cold, really! We called to have it looked at and was told it was a “room temperature fridge”. Ice was available so we kept our drinks cold that way. The rooms are being renovated in the next months, a good idea especially to replace the well worn carpet. Breakfast in the Aquarius restaurant was amazing. We were given continental breakfast as a Platinum amenity and there was a $6 per person charge to upgrade to the full breakfast. Well worth it for the omelettes, Eggs Benedict , bacon. We will definitely return when the rooms are renovated. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great staff!

Feb 22nd, 2020

Rio was a great help to us several times during our stay. He always arrived with a smile and willingness to help! On one occasion we needed assistance with an issue in our bathroom, he called maintenance and then came back to make sure we were helped. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Time to do smthing about the chair and umbrella hoarding

Feb 22nd, 2020

My wife and I have been going to aruba Rennaiscance ocean suites for over 12 years we own a time share we love all the staff very much great service as allways, But the same thing goes on year after year where the same groups of people are paying the pool maintenance workers to set towels out long before daylight which i know quite well they are being paid to do so by guests! Not fair to anyone else who might like to use one once on a while.towels are left out to "reserve" chairs and umbrellas when people dont even show up for hours ! We love th Rennaiscance but really wish the management would step up and stop this practice!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
