Fine But Tired
Feb 9th, 2021
This hotel would be best described as decidedly fine. The rooms were nice and large and decently appointed but this hotel has definitely seen better days. There was just a lot of chips and cracks and other issues that I saw during my stay and the bathroom definitely needs an update. Staff was very helpful the entire time and have nothing but good things to say about them. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I realize we are currently all living in the world of COVID based travel. The Renaissance is a nice place and good COVID protocols are in place. Staff I interacted with were very professional. The room: I had a king room which was really nice size with a decent view from the 8th floor. The room is large but not well thought out. There is a lot of wasted space, a very small work area, no type of coffee table, and a relatively small TV. Lighting in the room is minimal. I think if those that designed the rooms for this hotel actually stayed there for a week they would change this design. Cable TV is really bad and I rarely watch TV. Menu selection just shows channels but not what is on or will be on. The bathroom is nice because the shower/toilet area is separate from the sink area by closed doors. Restaurant/bar is closed so did not have a chance to use. Overall this is a good hotel, but I would try someplace different next time in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Another winner, Marriott!

We stayed here for a few nights on the tail end of a trip through Jackson, Wyoming, Yellowstone, Rapid City. This area was our last stop and we had a lovely stay. From our immediate, easy check in (safely following covid protocols), to our FABULOUS and huge suite, we loved it. Stayed here with our family of four, the suite was HUGE - plenty of room to spread out, plus, 2 queen beds, a pullout sofa, and they were able to bring up a rollaway bed as well, so convenient when you're traveling with a family, plus very comfortable. Room was bright and very clean. The restaurant/bar in the lobby was convenient and tasty with indoor and outdoor seating. Loved it here and would stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husband and I and 2 relatives stayed at this hotel from 9/12 - 9/14/20. We reserved 3 rooms. The mountain view room my husband and I requested wasn't ready when we arrived late afternoon. Relative 1's room was ready, and then somehow a mountain-view room was ready w/in 2 minutes of our arrival (once we got in our room, it seemed no one had actually stayed in the room in a very long time). Relative 2 arrived that evening. There were many, many issues. There was only 1 person at check-in every time we were in the lobby, so that individual was taking care of all of the guests, answering the phone, checking in/out, etc. In our room, the wallpaper on 1 wall in the bathroom had been replaced. There was wallpaper paste on the wall and the wall/ceiling hadn't been trimmed out. If we had seen that before unpacking, we would have switched rooms. The desk chair and carpet were stained in our room. They advertise breakfast in Flatz from 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. on a wall in between the elevators on our floor, but it's Starbucks that's open, not Flatz. Relative 2's rate included breakfast. When he saw Flatz was closed for breakfast, the person at the front desk gave him coupons to Starbucks. The website shows Grab and Go breakfast from the restaurant. My husband and I were out of the room almost the entire day our 1st full day there. We returned to the room at 3:30 and the room hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk and was told they clean the room every 4th day. We were not told that when we checked in. I asked for clean towels. They brought up 2 bath towels and 1 wash cloth and didn't remove dirty towels. I had to go to the front desk asking for more bath towels, bath mat and hand towels. There were 3 parties in line in front of me. The couple at the check-in desk had checked in the day before, same day as us. They were being told clean every 4th day. The couple asked for clean towels and more shampoo and conditioner and that dirty towels be removed. That couple hadn't been told about 4th day cleaning upon check-in either. The 2 other parties were checking in and were told about the 4th day cleaning and only Starbucks was open for breakfast. If you checked in on Saturday, 9/12/20, you weren't told about 4th day cleaning or only Starbucks was open for breakfast. The day we were checking out, housekeeping just opened our door. No knock, no announcement of housekeeping, nothing. She had seen my husband walk in the room a few minutes earlier. The maintenance guy was delivering towels also. A very-short staffed hotel in every department. We've been going to Boulder for 20 years and more than likely stay at the Renaissance. The last 2-3 years it's been going downhill. Now it's to the point we won't return. We'll stay at the brand new Homewood Suites next door when it opens. Yes, we know traveling during the pandemic isn't idea, but this was a necessity. This hotel should not have the Renaissance flag. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We stayed here once in March right before everything was shut down and again in June for a change of scenery. Both times were wonderful. It's in a nice location with a number of restaurants close by. We absolutely loved Eat! which was across the street. Rooms were a good size and very clean. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
