Renaissance Istanbul Polat Bosphorus = Great Views of Bosphorus from Corner Suite

Jan 13th, 2020

I stayed at Renaissance Istanbul Polat Bosphorus and was pleased to receive a very generous upgrade to a corner suite Bosphorus view as a Marriott Ambassador elite guest. I thought the room was on par with Renaissance brand standards: it’s not a luxury hotel like Ritz Carlton or St.Regis, but Ren was nice, clean, functional, and moderately upscale as it should be. The living room had a nice hardwood floor, the views of the Bosphorus were great, and there was a large window in the bathtub to allow natural light in the bathroom with blinds for privacy as needed. There was a stand-alone shower plus another shower in the tub and water pressure was good. If there is one negative I could say about this suite is that I wish it had 1.5 bath rather than only one, but other than that there is no much to complain about the room. Also to their credit they even paid attention to my online profile about the choice of pillows (which not many hotels do) and brought an extra pillow to the room as per my requirements. Happy hour in the lounge was offered 5:30pm-7:30pm for hors d’oeuvres and until 9:30pm for drinks. There were three hot food choices including steak, chicken, and rice, plus one soup, on top of a few kinds of sandwiches, various salads, and desserts. Alcohol was a bit basic with a choice of one red and one white wine and some liquor. The lounge was surprisingly small: I counted only 8 tables in the main room, plus a sofa and computer desk in the room in the back. January is low season so it was not crowded when we were there, but I wonder how it is in the summer. At least they have some seating on the terrace outside which would help host more guests in the summer. There is no breakfast in the lounge in the morning; it is only offered in the restaurant. Breakfast is not the highlight of this hotel to be honest and I found the spread to be more modest than at the other Renaissance hotel in Istanbul (the one near the old airport). Overall this is a solid hotel and in my opinion it’s good value relative to the price tag, particularly for elite guests of the Marriott loyalty program who can receive upgrades upon availability. In addition, the hotel was very flexible to allow very late check-out at 8pm because we had a flight during the night so we appreciated the hotel being quite flexible to let us leave late. Thumbs up to them! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Night cap at Rooftop bar

Dec 11th, 2019

I usually start at this hotel but prices were through the roof this time but couldn't resist a late night drink at Bar 212 to enjoy the stunning Bosphorus views from the rooftop. Well worth a visit any time of the year. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

For me it's one of the best hotels in Istanbul and definitely offers the most beautiful view of the bosphorus! Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious. I can recommend it to everyone who's visiting Istanbul. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
