Beautiful reception room and outdoor area overlooking the sea

Jul 11th, 2020

We didn't spend the night, we are reviewing this place for a banquet we attended. The place is beautiful, not only for the sea view, also for the swimming pool, the green area outside etc... Also the service is great and friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel in a residential neighborhood near Ataturk Airport (old airport)

Mar 24th, 2020

The Renaissance Polat is a very nice chain hotel located near the old airport (Ataturk) in Istanbul. The hotel is 45 minutes or so from the NEW (IST) airport. Check in was smooth and staff were friendly and helpful, even at the early hour we arrived. After check in and a shower, we had breakfast. The breakfast is offered in a large room overlooking the sea. I couldn't tell if it was a breakfast-only location or was their all-day restaurant. I ask this only because the room was very large and not a lot of of decoration. However, like the front desk, staff were helpful. The breakfast was a buffet style, with an egg station. The selection was very very good and very very extensive. With a large selection of typical "western style" breakfast items as well as local breakfast items. There was also a large offering of meats and cheeses. It was really a pleasant surprise! Rooms are average sized with a typical room and bathroom layout. They seem to have been renovated recently and I found the room very comfortable. Going to the old city is about a 20 minute taxi ride. We were only there a day and so we didn't have time to explore the area around the hotel but it appeared to be a residential area and I saw several restaurants and shops nearby. I imagine if you want a nicer, chain style hotel and are willing to be a short distance away from the main part of the city, the Renaissance Polat can offer good value. I found the hotel to be more than acceptable for short business visits. During the warmer months, being on the seaside should offer some nice recreational options as well. I would gladly return to this property. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My stay in Renaissance Istanbul Polat

Mar 13th, 2020

The hotel is located in a very nice area,, .you can take your walk on the lovely beach ,,,I only have few comments on the restaurant where they served he breakfast didn’t have that nice atmosphere ....not enough waiters when it get busy...and when I decided to take my breakfast in the terrace I had to go and collect my own knife and fork no table mat where used on the terrace tables ...the lady making the omelet wasn’t welcoming because of lots order’s .and the food the bar wasn’t as good as the lounge look, I had booked club sweet with a lovely view .and when I asked for complementary water they would bring 2 small bottles only 😕....I’m writing this hoping they take these comments in to consideration and I’m TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Turkish Airline Buisness Class Free Hotel

Mar 11th, 2020

We flew in on Turkish Business Class, and because of this Turkish Airline has regulations that puts you in a 5-Star Hotel free of charge for the layover if it is over 9hours (if not mistaken , ours was 20 hours). We got picked up and the drive was over an hour away (this hotel was near the old airport ) so we were told this would be a 5 star hotel, but honestly i would say this hotel is a 3-4 star hotel if anything. I did appreciate that we got complimentary breakfast and lunch, the breakfast had all allergens written which was quite helpful for people who eat plantbased/vegan diet as i do, as i knew what i could avoid. A lot of the dining staff did not speak much english so we had difficulty there. The rooms felt a bit small , and more like a best western style hotel rather as a 5star hotel . My room 711 , smelt like someone had smoked in it all night and day, which was offputting but were were there to sleep so i did what i could and tried to sleep through it. As mentioned, this was courtesy of Turkish Airlines, although the economy class flights i heard go to a 4star hotel, im scared to see what their hotel was like if this was a 5 star hotel . If i had to pick , i would pick another hotel closer to the new airport that actually has 5 star standards, the whole lounge does seem 5 star class but as you enter your room, you quickly have that feeling washed away. The lunch was not bad but when asking what the salads had or ingredients, we had the language barrier again, as they could not really explain much . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
