The worst hotel experience I have ever had, anywhere!
Jan 18th, 2021
The hotel was a disaster. I would have scored it zero, instead of 1, but that was not an option. The rooms are so dark and the couches (we had two rooms) were stained and very old. They were pull-out sofas that were terrible - lumpy, bumpy and thin mattress. It was so bad that my two grown daughters and I all slept in the king size bed. When we arrived to the room, there were no towels only two wash clothes for the three of us. There were not bed linens or pillows for the pull-out. When I told the front desk employee that we had no towels, she called housekeeping and told me that there were towels in our room. I assured her there were not and that we needed the extra linens, blanket and pillow. We left to go eat dinner and upon our return, there were two trash bags on the floor inside the door. One had towels and the other had the bed linens. My husband called the front desk to ask for the pull-out sofa bed linens for the room he was sharing with our son. They told him housekeeping was gone so he would have to come get them, which entailed a 5 minute walk to the main building, in the rain. When he got back and opened them up, there was a huge yellow stain on the sheet. My daughter needed ice to apply to her injured foot. When we called to get the ice, we were told the bar had some. Therefore, they expected us to take another walk, in the rain, to get ice. The room had a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and two-burner hot plate, but not a single dish, cup or utensil. The coffee make was broken and there was not any cream or sugar. My husband went up to the restaurant at 8:50 and there was no coffee, tea or food. Breakfast was supposed to be until 9:00 am. When he looked at the "buffet" , which was a food warmer with no food in it, he saw brown water in the bottom of it. I have seen nicer swimming pools at fraternity houses. There were no towels for the pool or beach. We were supposed to use our room towels, I suppose. The employees were rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. They should not be in the hospitality business. It was terrible! I would let my dogs stay here. My daughter now calls it the Crapambola Resort and I have to agree with her. We spent one night there, woke up at 9:45 and were on our way to the Westin St. John by 11:00. When my husband called to tell them that we were gone, they didn't care. They didn't ask what the problem was, they just said OK. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Do not listen to the other Reviews! This place is breathtaking
Jan 17th, 2021
Hello, I do want to thank for for taking the time on reading this review. I too was browsing through review when I almost cancelled my reservation at the Carambola Bach Resort since all the recent reviews I found were terrible. Let begin with a Review from Dec 2020 "I have never stayed in a hotel that is worse shape physically with the lack of customer service to pair with it" - Let me tell you something guys this hotel is not perfect! (What is considered a perfect hotel?) but this hotel went through so much with the hurricane that it had to shot down completely. it just started opening up again and you have to understand that when you are coming here, it is not updated as some people would have expect! The room was clean, some towels were stain from washing them with other color linens but I asked for the staff to change them and they even gave me new towels every time that I asked. The rooms are spacious and all of them have a balcony with an amazing view of the best beach the island can offer! I am truly in awed from the location of this hotel! It is definitely not "THE WORST HOTEL" it is actually very nice. The Service Staff was amazing, nice, welcoming, Lisbeth at the bar was just a treasure to meet! Even the guards at the entrance always greeted us with the nicest regards. Another Review said: "Open arrival we had to go ask for cleaning supplies to clean our own room".... Well I am telling you now! it is not DIRTY... It is an island and there are bugs, it's an island! There are going to be bugs, there is going to be sand! there is going to be nature!! you are coming to a place that is surrounded by a breathtaking mountain! I can tell you that there is not room servicing every day, but I asked for my room to be cleaned a couple of the days that I stayed and the staff was more than happy to accommodate the extra servicing I requested. Another review said: "The complex is in a horrible state of disrepair." OMG!!! it is not! the ground are nice and maintained. The pool is clean, the beach chairs are all way more comfortable that some people's couches, so Please when leaving such a dramatic review, think twice, your exaggeration should not be publicized in an online site that others can read.... Another review said: "It's like they were dreaming up ways to torture you while you spent your money for it...." Ok, again with the overly dramatic and exaggerated bad review... Oh I am sorry that you could not get your coffee after 9 am or that you only ate a hamburger from the limited food menu.... Boohoo! There is a coffee machine in each room so you can make your own coffee after the breakfast shuts down... Is it a cappuccino, no!!! but it is coffee, so drink it up and head to the most amazing beach in the island!... if this is called torture! well heck yeah I am happy to go through this torture because to be honest this hotel was so far from that, it was nice, accommodating, friendly and peaceful! Oh and regarding the food options, well the whole island has small menus. There is about 10 options in the hotel that you can have! Definitely try the Fish Fries, the pork nachos and the pizza!!! I read some reviews that said that it was probably frozen pizza... Well, The Best Frozen Pizza I have ever had, and this is coming from someone that has had a fair share on frozen pizza's! It was delish! one last review and I will leave you guys alone!: "In all, I cannot believe this resort was as bad as it was. If this resort became free to stay at, I would not stay here again in the future."... If you are considering this, I am so sorry for you, because you will be missing out on one of the best experiences you could have! This hotel has it's own trail access to the Tide Pools, which is this magnificent site that other's in the island have to drive to! and yet this "Horrible Hotel" as some have called it has its own well kept trail to it, you are just steps away from Paradise! so Please think twice before considering not staying here because it is just amazing. Tips: If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, then no! this is not the hotel for you! If you are looking for peace, quiet, privacy, amazing beaches, views to die for, and a great experience that you are willing to sleep in a comfortable bed and a not so updated room that has everything you can possibly imagine then, come on down to the Carambola Hotel because I can tell you now that you will not regret it! Get a Car! the rentals cars are pretty cheap and it just makes it a lot easier to go around the island. On another note! I only wrote this too long of a review because I found it unfair that people categorized it as they did! I almost cancelled my whole stay because of what I read and I would have been livid if I had missed out on this amazing spot, hadn't I given it a chance! You will not regret your stay here! Horrible Property but great potential
Jan 16th, 2021
Where to begin. This property is perfectly located ocean front and you can see what is was in it's glory days. I have never stayed in a hotel that is worse shape physically with the lack of customer service to pair with it. The rooms were dirty, run down, missing items (such as mini-fridge and TV) with empty spaces that they should have occupied. We had 2 rooms, this was a family trip and changed rooms after the first 20 seconds of walking into the original rooms. So in total we saw/stayed in 4 rooms all equally as bad. The grounds were unkept with weeds around the pool deck, rust on the roof tops and balcony screens torn or missing. I hope Marriott takes a serious look at this property and either takes the flag or helps them fix the major issues. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Absolutely amazing experience :D

Not sure why this place place has such terrible reviews to be honest. The resort exceeded our expectations tremendously and created an amazing getaway for me and my friends. Our villa/suite had a BEAUTIFUL waterfront view and was very clean! There were always a few sweet little resort cats outside to greet us when we left and arrived at our suite. In addition, there were tons of little mongooses that were harmless and entertaining to watch. Yes, this place is recovering from hurricanes but it’s nowhere close to what reviews are saying. You can tell that effort is put into the landscape, pool, and keeping the beach and hotel suites in order and great shape. The pool is huge and we regularly saw it being cleaned upon our stay. The pool bar had the sweetest and coolest staff (shoutout to Lisette!) Also, the front desk staff and really all staff we came into contact with we’re extremely pleasant and helpful in all instances! As far as the private beach goes, it’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the beauty of St. Croix. I will say if you are planning to not venture out and you want to swim in the private beach waters, it is true it is rocky so bring water shoes or don’t expect to really be swimming. Instead, we made the most of our trip by traveling to CaneBay beach not far from the resort (We walked it!) and there is plenty of places to swim and jump in the water. There also is some great snorkeling in this area we came to find out! The surrounding restaurants and beach bars in CaneBay were very nice as well. As far as food goes at this resort, if you are assuming on relying on hotel food (A. It is slightly expensive but that’s to be expected anywhere and everywhere you go B. It’s yummy food and has good options unlike what previous reviews have been saying. C. As a little tip, My friends and I brought our own snacks and breakfast food to heat up in the microwave to safe money, there is a fridge too to store things you bring) you honestly gotta think smarter and not blame the hotel for being so called “stranded with no food” as I have seen in some of the reviews, which is just completely false. The breakfast is delicious and they serve a huge plate! As far as the time of food service it’s not the hotel’s fault it would be the residents fault for missing it. Just wake up and go get it if you paid for it lol!!! Ultimately, your vacation to St. Croix really is what you make of it. If you go in with the attitude that everything must be perfect then you will most likely disappoint yourself. This resort is well worth the stay and I’m so glad we didn’t let other people’s opinions detour us from booking this place. It disappoints me that that is their reputation because it truly is so amazing and does not deserve it. Which is why I feel compelled to write this review. I love this place, was happy with my stay here, and will definitely be back in the future I hope!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

To say we were highly disappointed is an understatement. The dirtiest Marriott we have ever stayed in. No biggie if a place is a little outdated, or being worked on from hurricanes, but the uncleanliness of our room is an actual health concern. Open arrival we had to go ask for cleaning supplies to clean our own room. After taking back a white rag that was almost black we had to offer of another room or any updates. Highly disappointed in customer service at both resort and Marriott. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
