Staff friendly, housekeeping subpar

Jul 17th, 2019

4 night/day stay here, first day late arrival. Staff very friendly. Housekeeping not great. First day room cleaned but no clean towels left or bathroom products. I had to call. Second day we saw the maid and told her what we needed. Third day room never cleaned as of 2:30 pm, last day check out. Would stay here again because it’s really the only place in downtown Toledo. Great Hospitality/Valet

Jul 4th, 2019

My family and I checked in pretty late yet had the luxury to be serviced with great valet. A young woman named Marie welcomed us with an infectious smile and eagerly offered bellhop assistance as well. I believe she mentioned that it was one of her first days on the job. A job well done she did. The little things matter and I will definitely spend more of my vacations here while utilizing this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our hotel in Toledo from now on

Jul 2nd, 2019

We've stayed in Toledo hotels several times and have been surprised by the mediocre offerings. The Renaissance is our hotel in Toledo now. Nice restaurant on the first floor, good views of the riverfront on the rooftop bar, clean rooms with good complement of amenities. Best place to stay in Toledo... and we get the Marriott rewards points, too. We don't stay in Marriott hotels just to get those points but it's a pleasure to cash in at a place as nice as this one. Best Hotel in Toledo - Valet Greatly Improved

Jun 7th, 2019

The Renaissance is the only nice hotel in Toledo - and it is a nice property with the best view in town. I live in Toledo and often go to the rooftop bar - The Heights. The food is tasty but the restaurant service often leaves something to be desired. The valet service is often mediocre, but Marcel Barajas recently became a manager and I received excellent service at the valet.from Marcel and his team. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Property. Needs more attentive management

May 31st, 2019

I stayed here a year ago and loved it. Left a glowing review. And I will likely stay here again on my next Toledo trip. Rooms are fresh and clever. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom is nice. (Although small) Fridge in each room. Rooftop bar has good food and is convenient. Great decor tied to the history of Toledo. Well designed. Here's where they blew it. It's like nobody is paying attention. We drive in and valet park. Despite all the valet guys around - nobody offers help and I pull hanging bags and suitcases out of the car myself. My loaded-down wife and I go to the automatic door and push the button. Nothing. Push again... Nothing. Give my loaded down wife a bag and pull on the door - it's locked. Valet guy comes out and says the door is broken. Doesn't offer to help. Doesn't open other door... So we struggle and do it ourselves while they watch. What they should have done: Offered to help. Open the damn door. Where's Management??? Then we walk to front desks. Stop at the one on the right. Balance our bags and hanging bags. Nobody there at either desk. We wait a short time. Finally somebody comes out says... Welcome? No... They don't say that. They say that they are signed in at the OTHER desk. OK. So we move our stuff to other check in. Next morning - I call down 15 minutes early to have our car brought around by the valets. We get downstairs. Check out. Must have been 6 valets standing around. Same thing. Automatic Door still broken apparently (now there is a "wet floor" sign set up in front of it) While we again struggle with the doors and our luggage - nobody offers to help. We get outside. NO car. I go back in and ask one of the valet guys, who are talking amongst themselves, about our car. Turns out they've done nothing about our request to get our car. Zip. Nada. The guy looks and finds our keys and sends a guy to retrieve our car. I ask "why wasn't my car up already?" and he said "nobody told us to go get it". Anyway - after waiting over 5 more minutes - I go inside and tell front desk guy Dakota, who gives me another blank stare and tells me that he will convey the issue to his Manager. And then stands there. Seems to me maybe the Manager should have been present managing all these people doing nothing. Anyway - our car finally arrives. Guy opens the door and just stands at the door while I open the back of the SUV and load it myself. All while he just stands at my open car door. Lastly - our sink was clogged upon arrival. And apparently they make the housekeepers wash the water glasses in the rooms???? One was still damp with water. The others were filthy. FILTHY. Why would they not have glasses cleaned in a dishwasher and brought up? Doesn't seem like the front of house knows how to Welcome Guests and take care of guests. They seem to have plenty of employees... But no visible management nor practices to take care of guests. Disappointed and hope they get new Management. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
