Amazing

Jan 4th, 2020

Great hotel. Located in the industrial quarter, a five minute tram ride into central Zurich and the tram station is right behind the hotel. The hotel is very modern and clean, with daily treats to guests. Breakfast was also amazing. The executive lounge was very nice, with complimentary drinks and we were upgraded to a suite that overlooked the area. The staff was very welcoming and super helpful. What a great value. Absolutely recommend. Don't change this property Marriott! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Out of town but connected

Dec 31st, 2019

Viking Cruises has partnered with Marriott Hotels for passenger accommodation pre- and post-cruises, so we stayed here before boarding the Viking Alsvin in Basel. This 15-storey hotel is out in a Zurich suburb of sterile, low-rise buildings called Technopark. One block over we took Tram #4 (blue) Direction Tiefenbrunnen, to the train station and the Old Town. One-way trip takes about 10-15 minutes. A day pass for the entire tram system cost 8 Euro per person. Return to hotel via same Tram #4 (blue) Direction Altstetten. During December there is a large Christmas Market inside the central concourse of the main train station. Viking offered an orientation walk in the hotel area at 5:30 PM which is fine in summer but in December darkness comes early and street lighting was poor. We had a room on the third floor with a view of nothing but other buildings. There was a king bed, separate little room for the toilet and another for the shower/vanity sink. A push button on the wall operated shades to block out exterior light. The lobby is dark and the hall to the elevators is a black tunnel. The Equinox restaurant/breakfast area to the left is brighter along with colorful chairs and an archway of books in a seating nook. The included breakfast is very good. There is nothing ‘wrong’ with the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel but, as a tourist, I would prefer a location nearer the Old Town where I could walk to sites rather than take a tram or expensive taxi. Good value for Zurich

Dec 29th, 2019

Overall a good 1-week stay at this property. Attentive staff at the front desk, bar and restaurant. We had just one dinner there and the food was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. Room was large enough for four of us and beds were very comfortable. Tram stop (line #4) to Main Train Station is very close (5’). Train station (Hardbrücke) with direct connection to the airport is also very close (10’). You can walk to downtown (30’) or take the tram (10’) or take the train (3’). Hotel’s vibe is “business hotel”. We saw several airline crews as well. The location is in District 5, an old industrial quarter that is being converted to urban with restaurants, bars, etc. There is a very good bakery (Steiner Flughafebeck) for breakfast or lunch right outside the main entrance to the right hand side. Our only complaints were a) 2 out of 7 days the room was not cleaned during normal hours so we had to ask receptionist for it; b) we understood there was a daily charge for parking garage use but apparently it activates every time you go in and out so we ended up paying CHF 47 (instead of CHF 29) for one of the days. It was also unusual not receiving any special gesture for our Marriott Bonvoy status (Gold). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Walking distance from the Hardbruke station

Dec 14th, 2019

The hotel is a good option to stay if your office happens to be nearby. It is at stones throw from the train station connecting to the airport. The rooms are quiet and sleep quality good. There is a restaurant with buffet breakfast option as well. The only issue I had was that my green choice did not register via the app. Unlike in the states they do not have a card which u can hang outside so lost some points. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
