Spectacular Breakfast Buffet

May 23rd, 2019

The Renaissance Tower Hotel had a lot to offer including a spectacular breakfast buffet. I have a lot of experience with breakfast buffets and can unequivocally state that the breakfast buffet was fantastic. I loved the pot of coffee on the table, the smoked salmon, the fresh juice bar, the wide selection of breakfast items. Other things I liked about the Renaissance include: the 5 minute walk to the rail station to the city, the ATM machine in the adjacent building, the COOP grocery store two clocks away, the wide variety of restaurants within a ten minute walk, the complimentary internet bar on the third floor, the choice of a non-smoking room that had no hint of smoke, plenty of charging stations in the room and room service which did a fine job preparing my room each day. A special shout to the concierge desk which provided European adapters for my room. What I thought could have been improved were the price of meals at the Equinox Restaurant. Meals were way to pricey even for Switzerland. The hotel was in an light business area but seemed very safe. The bathroom sinks were shaped so that no matter what you did they splashed all over. The rooms were large but in my case half empty of furniture. The airport is actually 25 minutes away without traffic. I timed the taxi ride. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice room, Breakfast buffet not so

May 21st, 2019

Stayed here on a Viking tour of Switzerland which included the room and breakfast buffet. The room was fine (except for the shower which had no curtain, water got on floor) but the hotel can not handle the crowds it gets. Elevators were extremely slow and crowded. The breakfast buffet was unacceptable. It was so crowded all the staff could do was clear tables and try to get people in. You could not get assistance from waiters. The hotel must cater to large tour groups which strain its resources. There is another room where breakfast is served because an airline pilot was told to "go to the lounge". Tour customers are stuck with the poor buffet. I really cannot recommend this hotel. It is just too busy, too crowded, and it's service resources are strained too much. Also, I prefer to stay in city centers when I travel and this hotel is not in the city center. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pretty good hotel, did everything I needed

May 18th, 2019

I travel a lot, but am not precious about hotels. As long as they have the usual amenities, are clean and the staff are helpful, I am as happy as Larry. This hotel ticked all of the boxes. I would visit again if in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overpriced crowded with poor service

May 7th, 2019

Terribly overpriced as everything else in Switzerland. Poor service. Always crowded and not enough staff. Gym is small and crowded. Elevators take forever to show up. Staff has no clue on how to run a breakfast. Food is average and coffee is terrible! Rooms are average. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Big bright rooms in modern hotel

May 6th, 2019

Tower hotel in ex industrial area which has been nicely (and greenly) revitalized into business, hotels and apartments. Hotel has Big rooms, modern rooms. Perfect for business use but also used by tour groups (Viking tours where here when I was). Very easy to get to by train or tram. Good fitness center (not huge but well filled with modern machines and with great views from top floor). Good breakfast (if a bit crowded as my breakfast coincided with tour group!)
