Family vacation in Reserva Conchal

Feb 25th, 2020

Just returned from a week in CR and loved everything . We started by getting liquor at the CR duty-free , prices are good compared to Ontario , 2 - 1L of Bacardi $26 US . We took a EcotransCR transfer for 6 of us to Reserve for $90 US . We rented a condo and heard the place is big so we decided to get a golf cart for $300 the week . We used the free shuttle for the first day is was ok but did have to wait bit . We also wanted the cart to go for groceries and the nearby towns as carts are allowed on the streets , so glad we got one it was super fun and could take the short cut thru the golf course to nearby towns. The Golf course is real nice , a little dry but in great shape . We decided to to get a 3 round pass for $400 vs the $160 per round . Our older kids surfed with Point Break surfing in nearby Playa Grande for $55 each including the pick up and return to our condo . These guys were great they got everyone in the group up and riding waves quickly . The food there is great and reasonable , must go to Gracia in Mar Vista and the Patalonia in Brasito . We had a great time visiting all the nearby towns and felt safe every minute , even on a couple of late night drive homes , I can't say enough good things about place we had a great time . Hope some of these details help you make your decision to visit here you won't be disappointed ( as long as ur up for some 30 degree heat 7 days a week ). Enjoy !! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

RCI at The Westin

Jan 16th, 2020

First of all the resort is huge but beautiful. The staff could not be more helpful. But if you are RCI and didn’t opt for the all inclusive, you should know that the units do not have any type of of kitchen...mini or not. The was a pod only coffee pot and a mini bar fridge. The staff did bring us a microwave and fridge after we spoke with the supervisor and showed the description on RCI site. Restaurants are $$.. we had a car so go into nearby towns but without a car it would not be possible. In short, if you want an all inclusive and want to stay on property it’s wonderful...beach is gorgeous, golf, pool, etc. but if you want a Costa Rican experience, might not be your best option. Mixed reviews at the beach club restaurant

Jan 2nd, 2020

The restaurant was pretty slow, average food, but by far the worst part was the service by Erick at the beach club restaurant. Poor service, bad attitude, conflictive guy. On the other hand, Elizabeth was remarkably kind and very attentive. She is the reason I am giving it 3 stars instead of 1. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Golf in Costa Rica

Dec 9th, 2019

I booked almost a year ago with RCI for the Reserva Conchal Vacation Club so things could have changed by the time I went. It was the week I wanted to travel, warm climate, beach, golf course and was not all-inclusive. No where did I know that I was going to a Westin. I used the airport shuttle to get to the resort so I did not have a car. There was no grocery store that I could walk to so I was told. I ate late lunches after golf from the Westin restaurants and charged to my room. However, the all-inclusive was available. The golf was great. I really liked the course. It was challenging but I could get some pars. Jose and Callis got my clubs ready each morning. The watermelon and refreshing towel was a nice touch. There was work going on to upgrade the bunkers. Rachel at the pool was friendly and helpful. But, even after a week, I still wasn't sure where the timeshare units were and the Westin. Some areas were private or for the residents. The iguanas, coati, and monkeys were around so I didn't need to go inland to see animals. The downside was that the unit I was in was at the end, however closer to walk to the golf course, nearer the Island Bar. A few nights the music was loud. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Westin Playa Conchal

Nov 5th, 2019

We went to Costa Rica for a girls trip and stayed a total of 5 nights and each night got better and better. We stayed at the Royal Beach Club and it was amazing. The hotel grounds were beautiful, the staff was amazing and always had a smile on their face and a helping hand! We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet, the food was good and the drinks where amazing! Our first full day we enjoyed a wonderful beach massage by Susanna! We were approached by Erik Garcia and we LOVED each excursion we did, Our first one was horse back ride on the beach which was breath taking, my horse was a little stubborn and the tour guide was so helpful he also took pictures of us on our horses, The 4th day was pretty much a all day adventure visited 2 waterfalls one was Rio Celeste it was the most beautiful clear blue water it was spectacular, on this excursion we also saw sloths, snakes, toucans, and monkeys. Our tour guide Christian was so knowledgeable he showed us coffee bean plants, banana trees, tons of different plants, and he had the best eyes he spotted the monkeys, sloths, and numerous other animals. He knew so much about the place. We had lunch at Christian's families restaurant and that food was the best food I had on our whole trip it was delicious. Our driver Willie was also amazing they both took great care of us!! Our last day there we took a catamaran ride to snorkel I can't put into words how breath taking that was, the Captain and crew on the Lazy Lizard were so fun and knowledgeable. We saw puffer fish, a small shark, a star fish, and some even saw a turtle. The sunset was gorgeous and the food and drinks provided where delicious. I highly recommend the Westin and Erik Garcia for your excursions. There is so much left to explore and we can not wait to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
