Outstanding Staff

Jul 18th, 2019

We have been staying at the Residence Inn while my son is interning in Alexandria this summer. The staff at the hotel are outstanding, and Pam has gone out of her way to be helpful and kind. The location is 2 blocks from a Whole Foods, and a short walk to Old Town, so perfect for us. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beware - Unwanted Charges

Jul 12th, 2019

My husband & I recently stayed at Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town/Duke Street last weekend for a little weekend getaway. I have always enjoyed staying at this Residence Inn as it is convenient location to Old Town. I recently discovered that I was charged twice on my credit card, so I called the local office and as the representative was going over the charges, she said "$200 for pet!" I was a bit confused as we did not have a pet and I informed the rep of such. She stated housekeeping indicated while cleaning, we had a dog (I have NO idea what they saw, but they were obviously in the wrong room as it was just my husband & I). And they indicated they saw us come out of the room with a dog. Now, we were near the elevator and we never saw housekeeping during our comings and goings. On our last morning, I did open the door and saw housekeeping and told them we had late check out so they wouldn't disturb us. After I reiterated we didn't have a dog, the rep said they would credit me the $200.00. That is fine, but this is truly a wake up for me to verify charges before leaving the hotel. Interesting enough, the invoice I received when I checked out did not list the pet charge, but on the Marriott website, when I opened the invoice, it listed the pet charge. I'm not saying housekeeping lied, but they obviously got our room mixed up with someone else....and we never saw nor heard a dog barking on our floor. Everyone be vigilant and make sure you are not added a surprise charge that shouldn't be on your bill. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our first time to the area.

May 30th, 2019

This was our first visit to see DC and we thought it might be easier and less traffic to stay in Alexandria. We were there for 3 nights. Getting into the hotel from the main street is a challenge especially at peak hours. I suggest getting off on a side street and finding the parking garage at the back of the hotel. There was a mistake on our rooms at check in, but it was taken care of very quickly and we were compensated for the error which we appreciated very much. The suite was very roomy! Having a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishes and a dishwasher is very handy. Our rooms were quiet and comfortable. We found the parking to be very secure and the breakfast was wonderful! Eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle which is a quick way to get to many of the restaurants by the river. We also were able to take a free trolley which dropped us off only 2 blocks from the hotel. We drove into DC two times which was not bad at all. Being a holiday weekend we avoided many of the folks who work there. If you are going to DC locate parking garages near where you want to go that day. You can prepay a time you want to arrive and leave which made it easy. From the hotel we had only a 15 minute drive to get to where we wanted to visit in DC. We did not see until we got there that there is no pool. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great for travel with a dog

May 27th, 2019

We stayed one night over Memorial Day weekend and we liked everything about this place. We drive an F-150 that doesn’t clear the regular guest garage so the hotel allowed us to enter through the employee side so that we could park inside and didn’t have to find street parking. The property is neat and clean, the staff are extremely friendly. What made this so great for our dog is that there is a walk beside the hotel that leads to a park, very easy to walk her with grassy areas to go potty. I wasn’t sure we’d find that in Old Town Alexandria. Yes, there is a $200 fee for each dog for your stay, but there is a cost for those of us who like to have our furry friends with us. Great hotel in Old Town

May 25th, 2019

I stayed here one night and was very impressed with the cleanliness, location, and staff. The breakfast buffet presentation, quality, and variety was wonderful and the staff attending to the buffet was very attentive to the guests as well as keeping the buffet clean. I appreciate that they use real plates and silverware vice the usual disposable stuff you see at most places. Overall a great place to stay...will definitely come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
