Great for long stay

As usual Marriott is a welcoming oasis in a sea of other hotels. The bed was fantastic, the room was large and clean. My husband and I stayed for a week. The parking was easy and it was a great location close to Old Towne, Alexandria. The only thing I would have liked different was the breakfast. It wasn’t very appealing. I know they tried to change things up every morning, but it wasn’t that good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good residence Inn in bland area

The Inn is relatively new, well run and what you expect from a Residence Inn- spacious suites with kitchen and breakfast and few other frills. They also provided free food in the evening for 'mixing'. This is very close to NSF and the Metro (although that will be gone until September now). Otherwise, the area is modern bland- a neighborhood trying to form, but not there yet. There's a Whole Foods easily walkable if you want to cook. You can take a long walk to real 'old town' or take the train. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rude management (R. Randall)

The situation: My wife called Marriott customer service to as them if there was a way to cancel our reservation and receive a refund due to the fact that our baby daughter was just diagnosed with influenza and should not make the trip. The customer service representative said that the cancellation policy states that reservations must be made 48 hours in advance. They advised us to contact the hotel directly, explain the extenuating circumstances and see if they would be able to cancel and issue a full refund. My wife contacted the hotel directly and spoke to Mr. Ralph Randall. She explained the extenuating circumstances and asked if he could waive the 48 hours cancellation policy. As she was beginning to explain to him why she was calling directly, He rudely cut her off and told her to call customer service. I heard my wife tell him that he was being rude and condescending as he kept cutting her off while she was attempting to explain that customer service asked her to call them directly. Instead of Mr. Randall apologizing for his tone and actions, he simply stated that he has fifteen customers standing in front of him and they can see that he isn’t being rude or condescending. I heard my wife go back and forth with him several times until she finally asked for contact information of his manager. Mr. Randall gave her the Marriott customer service number. Called customer service, asked to speak to the manager and got Johnathan (would not provide his last name). He started off nice and then became rude as well. They seem to think it was all about the money, the money is a non-factor at this point...It was strictly about how unprofessional the two managers were. Please don't get me started with how their corporate office Consumer Affairs department is handling the issue (laughable). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Expected Quality, Superb Service

We booked a few rooms for one night. The rooms were clean and modern. The lobby is bright and open and inviting. The staff were helpful and polite. Of note, Javier at the front desk was a tremendous help with check in, information, and later assistance. A true professional. The gym was surprisingly large and well stocked with free weights. The bar in the lobby was closed when we were there on a rain-soaked Sunday evening. That was disappointing. But overall, a great hotel in a nice spot. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Hotel Experience

I was here for business. This place was great and quiet. I had a good nights' rest and plenty of space. The Happy Hour, breakfast, and Steak dinner are just pluses. They really care about you in this hotel. The staff is friendly. If you are in the area, this is a good place. I was within walking distance from everywhere I needed to go. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
