Completely disappointing stay

Jan 15th, 2020

Internet inoperative - you can log in and choose to pay for the enhanced speed connection, but then the connection goes repeatedly into a 30 seconds on vs 10 minutes off frequency. Called the front desk and I was told that I needed to call the 1-855 number for technical support. Called their technical support and ultimately told that they wouldn't be able to fix the issue before I checked out the following day. Complained about the issue via the Bonvoy chat and told the issue would be fixed. Hours later nothing done. Had selected the enhanced speed option when I logged on so that's a waste of money. Wanted to make a pot of tea but the coffee maker was absolutely filthy. I am a loyal Marriott customer, Titanium Elite, but I I've never been as disappointed in a property as this one. It is as if they don't care because they are letting it slide into a such a state of disrepair. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Middle of the Road

Dec 29th, 2019

For an annual Ravens road trip, we stayed at this hotel. I chose this hotel specifically because all rooms were supposedly suites. In fairness, they are more so a junior suite as opposed to a traditional suite. Upon check-in, I was greeted by a lovely young lady. I am probably wrong but I believe her name was Kiara (dark hair, approximately 20 years old.) Anyway, she was very enthusiastic and friendly. No doubt, she’s the type of young lady that reflects positively on the property. The room was dated. They have a fireplace heater which is nothing more than a decoration. It looks nice, but I think it stopped blowing hot air long ago. The bathroom is very cramped. Again, that’s not usually the case in suites. I did like how the rooms are set up as mini condos. The beds were comfortable. As far as the property, there’s ample parking. Although I didn’t eat the breakfast, I looked at it when I got coffee in the morning. It looked good. The hotel is approximately one mile from University of Buffalo. It’s a very nice area. Any kind of store imaginable is within easy driving distance. One evening, the carbon monoxide detector went off around 8pm. The front desk said they were working on the system. Incidentally, it went off again 2 am the next morning. That really doesn’t give one an easy feeling. When I checked out, I met Rachel. I also found her to be extremely outgoing and a pleasure to talk to. Again, she is a great ambassador for the Marriott brand. Would I stay here again? Maybe. I wouldn’t automatically say yes or no. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overnight Stay in Transit after Thanksgiving - Reservation Not Met

Dec 16th, 2019

Booked a 2-queen bed, sleeper sofa unit at Residence Inn Amhert for the Friday after Thanksgiving. Made the reservation three months prior to the trip (August). On Friday morning we received an email saying the hotel did not have a unit available, but could offer us two king bed units. No explanation. I emailed we wanted the original reservation, but if not available we would need to be near each other. They knew from reservation that we had two teenage children. They responded that they would try to keep us on the same floor. So, we arrived at the hotel at 9:30 PM after five hour drive on our way back to Massachusetts. We were given the units only to find out that this is not a hotel, but an "apart-hotel" (their term), or a motel and that the units (ours and the other unit) were outside and separated by a staircase - one unit on the first floor and the other above on the 2nd floor. Now, when they implied on the same floor - we were thinking typical hotel with a secure hallway entered through the lobby past the reception desk for security and a room next door. We went back to front desk asked for another room, none provided. We asked if they would check with sister Marriott properties and desk Clerk said no promises that any would have availability. Of course, we were visitors to Amherst area, its 9:30 PM after 5 hour drive - No reason given what happened to our room with a 3 month lead reservation, No help in finding another hotel - just that it was a "deal" for them to give us two separate rooms on two different floors with direct access to the street. Manager was not in, so we just stayed the night. Don't advertise you are a hotel, when in fact, guests walk from their vehicles directly into their units, which is the definition of a motel. I saw a group of kids cutting through the parking lot that evening, so obviously the lot is open to the public. Units looked to be remodeled studio apartments, inside was okay, but clearly units were remodeled into motel suites. Otherwise, the units were acceptable - a little weather worn, door opened right out to the outside - which in November meant cold air and rain blowing into the room. Full kitchen, fake fireplace - I don't know if it worked. Large bathroom and two closets - again a studio apartment set-up. Stay somewhere else, as manager emailed us later, wrote the usual generic statement, no apology for not satisfying a reservation made three months prior to visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not a good option to stay.

Sep 14th, 2019

This is a multiple house property with dated furniture and equipment. Cleaning should be improved quite a lot. They use some kind of chemical to clean the flooring in the bathrooms which causes it to be extremely slippery so please use extreme caution. Very small fitness room, in fact you can hardly find any use of it. Consistent troubles when searching for a place to park your car. You do not expect high level properties in the Buffalo area but this one nearly hits the bottom. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

large clean rooms with very helpful, easygoing and friendly staff. Officially, its a three star hotel but was much nicer. A very nice positive experience with a nice breakfast. Would recommend for a friend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
