We visited Disney and Universal for a 4 day stay with our two school-age kids and baby. The 2 bedroom accommodations reeled us in as well as the proximity to Disney and the shuttle to avoid traffic on the day we visited. THE GOOD: The staff was friendly, we were greeted with smiles all the time. The complimentary coffee and infused water was a nice touch and the cookies they give when you check in were OUTSTANDING! My family couldn’t get enough of them and they were by far the best part of the stay here. Target is right across the street for any last minute items. The beds were comfy, typical for a Marriott. Housekeeping occurred daily and they did an excellent job. The complimentary breakfast was typical and nothing to write home about, but I guess it’s good that they even offer it so I won’t complain. Renovations were happening but we couldn’t hear any noise during our evenings in. NOT SO GOOD: First, the bathroom had rust in the tub. I didn’t even want to use it. I could also see poorly maintained areas throughout the room and I knew they were renovating as we stayed but I felt like these updates probably should have happened years ago. All in all, the room was decent, but not what I’m used to from Marriott. Way below my expectations. We book Residence Inns for the home-like amenities, including the full kitchen with dishes. We purchased food from the conveniently located Target across the street only to find that there were no skillets, just a small rusty pot and a large rusty pot. When we called for some from to the front desk, they told us they’d “see if they had anymore skillets” but we never heard back from them. Disappointing. The crib was just a playpen, though our daughter adjusted to it by the third night, it was likely from exhaustion. The sink in the larger bedroom was clogged and it would fill if the water was turned on high. The iron spit out white stuff when we used it. The bathroom fan would periodically decide to sound like an old motorcycle in need of repair, especially in the middle of the night, if the light was left on. Also, at 1 am one night, my husband was awakened by teens playing basketball loudly on the court adjacent to the pool. I would think that there would be some rules regarding timing for the convenience of sleeping guests but no... The shuttle seemed like a great idea considering the hotel is definitely not within walking distance of Disney. Pick up is right at the street in front of the hotel so it’s super convenient and priced decently at $6 per adult and $3 per kid. However, it’s supposed to run every 30 minutes and we waited no less than an hour for pick from the park. There were other families there when we got there who had been waiting much longer. Multiple times we considered a Lyft but it seems like they’re not allowed to pick you up nearby so that handcuffed us a bit. We didn’t want to walk miles on a considerably cool evening with 2 kids and a baby. So we waited and waited and waited... at least we got back I guess. OVERALL: I would never stay here again. Even after the renovations, I think there’s been such a sour experience that I’d try another chain at this point. Not a good look for Marriott. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This hotel is amazing. While our room was a bit dated and worn (and now currently all rooms are being refurbished) the service provided by everyone we encountered at this hotel makes it a 5 star!!!! I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and never have I had everyone that works there making customer service a #1 priority. I am talking from the front desk, to the breakfast area, to the gentleman who seem to always be cleaning the carpets (so clean all the time), the shuttle, local recommendations, the pool area with the basketball court, ping pong table and comfortable chairs and tables. The breakfast options were one of the best included breakfast I have ever encountered. We stayed at a hotel in a brand new hotel in LA for a few days after that could certainly use a few pointers from the staff here! Upon arrival I had groceries delivered. They had them already put in our room so we did not have to lug them up. I needed sour cream for a dinner we had delivered bc it was forgotten and they got me some from the kitchen area. Needed a cup for some hot chocolate and so on. They were spot on for everything. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We stayed with our grown up son in this hotel for a week. Susan at front desk welcome us with her cheerful and friendly demeanor. She was amazing and helpful, made our stay enjoyable. The hotel is close to Disneyland but located on the quiet area. Shuttle bus or by car to the park. Rooms very clean and have full kitchen. Their free hot continental breakfast was very delicious. We have stayed here before and it was in better.condition. But they are going to remodel shortly after we stayed there. The rates were great and free breakfast is always a plus. They also have a shuttle you can take at the front of the hotel for $6.00 for adults and it takes you to Disneyland and back it leaves every 30 min. We used it and it was very convenient. Our room was the 2 bedroom suite and had a view of the fireworks from our windows. The only complaint I have is that our room was right on the end by the road and even with ear plugs I could here the motorcycles reving up. We will definitely stay here again especially since they are remodeling. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My boyfriend and I live in Phoenix and have very busy jobs in customer service so we do not get out very often but, because of our jobs, our standards are incredibly high. We arrived at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove way before check-in around like 11AM we were planning on stopping by the resort, checking it out and then leaving to do all of our planned activities around the city. However, upon arrival we met Susan, and I hope that she sees this because I want her and everyone she works with to know what an amazing front desk agent she is. She checked us in early, AND upgraded us to a suite! Totally not necessary, but it felt incredible to be treated so kindly and we truly started our trip of with joy. She greeted us with a friendly smile each morning and listened to the both of our stories on how we were enjoying our little vacation. We were staying for the hockey game, which was only about 10-15 minutes away and that was perfect for us. The hotel itself is in the PERFECT location for Disney Land, only minutes away. We kept saying we would be coming back whenever we decide to visit because of the convince. The continental breakfast was nice as well, it tasted nice and we had plenty to choose from each morning. Bottom line, we felt that Susan and everyone else at the resort went above and beyond for us and we left planning the next time we would be staying at the Residence Inn in Anaheim :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
