Awesome Place for 2 weeks stay

Jun 5th, 2019

Travelled to Isle of Palms in Mt. Pleasant in 2016 and stayed in this Residence Inn for 14 days. The room has its own kitchen and is fully equipped. The place itself is very close to many restaurants and a supermarket which makes it easy for me to pick some items when I feel like cooking my own meal. A very peaceful place and it feels like home away from home. Note: No options for my date of travel from the dropdown so I have to choose the July 2018. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great getaway and awesome place to bring your pups!

Jun 4th, 2019

We came to visit Isle of Palms from Columbia, SC and we always stay at a Marriott or try to wherever we go. We were very impressed with the hotel the cleanliness the staff the bed was so comfortable and our one bedroom suite was perfect for having two dogs with us. I got sick the night before we checked out and the GM was nice enough to let me and my husband have a late check out at no charge I was very grateful for that! The absolute only problem we had was that guest that stayed there with pets did not clean up after themselves and our dogs stepped in a ton of dog poop the full 3 days and we even tried to pick some up around the hotel when we were walking our dogs! I won’t blame the staff for that but it might help going forward you guys implement a policy about cleaning up after your pet or you could get a fine just a thought...... thank you again and we will definitely be back Hallie TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

"Average at Best" at a non-average price

May 9th, 2019

This is not a "bargain" Residence Inn by Marriott. I think we expected more for the price. There was nothing terribly awful, just many minor details. I will explain: This hotel is 15 years old and has been nicely updated inside. We had absolutely no problems with the comfort of our suite and its' facilities. Clean and comfy! We have stayed at many Residence Inns up and down the east coast and know what to expect. That being said.... Our first evening was a Monday and a "Mix" in the great room. I can tell you, this was not up to standards of other Mixes we have attended. The "empanadas" were obviously pre-frozen and hard to bite and chew. The other offering was cold tortilla chips and canned salsa. That's it. There was one red and one white bottle of wine and several beers on ice. Once the white wine was gone (like, immediately) it took 15 minutes to replace. We left to go sit outside and wait (more on that later). The lone attendant actually sat at a table chatting with another guest while the wine and beer disappeared. The same situation on the 2nd night, this time it was the Tuesday night "cookout" that is standard at all Residence Inns.....although at this location, it was hardly a "cookout". We were offered pre-frozen "teriyaki" chicken breasts, chopped cabbage and watermelon hunks. There were no rolls, no lettuce, chips, etc. Again, the wine and beer were gone and the same attendant sitting at a table. When we (and others) asked for additional wine (1 bottle for 20+ people) she went to another table where a group was sitting and got a bottle from them that they had stashed on their couch (that was for us to then thank you). During our wait, we sat by a window and observed a young man walk from the Hampton Inn next door and through the shared parking lot, come in and help himself to a paper plate full of food and 2 beers, and then walk back to the Hampton Inn with it. There is a total lack of management being present. It has been our custom to see a Marriott manager appear and mingle for a while with guests. Not here. Breakfast service was better and met the minimum standard of a Residence Inn breakfast, but again, no manager. While we were waiting for more wine, we ventured out on to what should have been a lovely patio area by the pool. At first we wondered why no one was out there because at other Residence Inn's, the patio is an attraction that everyone enjoys -- usually with a fire-pit, good furniture, etc. Out pictures speaker louder than anything I can add -- with the disgustingly foul hot tub (where is SC DHEC?) and the unsightly pool, filthy furniture and run-down hotel exterior, it makes one wonder that is we can SEE that, what are we unable to see? Think about it! The hotel location is fine and parking is plentiful. It shares the parking lot with a large strip mall with an abandoned grocery store, but still we felt safe. Sonny and Amy at the front desk were excellent employees, but they can't do it all by themselves. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we had absolutely no issues with traffic noise. I think it would be hard to recommend this hotel unless we told the truth and let others make up their own minds. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Soccer Team Visiting for Local Tournament

Mar 25th, 2019

This Residence Inn was perfect for our soccer team group in town for a tournament! We were told that the final touches of extensive months-long renovation effort were completed just 4 weeks prior to our stay. Our room was very clean, with ample space and comfort. The hallways were bright and clean. The lobby was so welcoming and warm for our large group to enjoy during the breakfast hours and also in the evening for a large group gathering. Breakfast had a variety of options for most dietary needs. The only front desk staff member I encountered my entire long weekend was ROCKSTAR AMY!! Not only was she so patient and kind with our large and very loud group in her work space late into her very long and overwhelming Saturday shift, she had a smile on her face every time I saw her. She offered very valuable suggestions for our "we have one day to see all that we can" inquiry. With her suggestions, we were able to map out our day starting on Isle of Palms Beach, lunch on Shem Creek, and a long afternoon in historical downtown that included a tour. Thank you AMY and Residence Inn for being such a great host to our soccer team families! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
