I’d stay there again.

Oct 20th, 2019

I realize that my 5 star stay might not be someone else’s experience here, but for the one night I was there, I loved it. I chose it for the reasonable rate and location near an event I was attending. It is very convenient to the Southpark area but I loved that it was tucked away and seems almost hidden. I had a studio room, 6th floor, in a corner. Yes, it’s clearly an older property, but it was clean and nicely decorated. TV could be viewed from bed or turned and viewed from couch. Internet worked well. But the part that I loved most that can’t be easily duplicated: there was a steady rain all night and I could hear it. It was so peaceful where I was and the bed was so cozy. The breakfast was fine...nothing spectacular, but suitable. The staff was helpful and friendly. The other people staying there (and the breakfast area was full of them) seemed content. I actually hated leaving. Thanks for a great night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor

We were excited when my daughters sports tournament in Charlotte listed this property as one of the tournament hotels. The pictures looked great and we have had many nice stays in Residence Inns. But this property was a disappointment and I would not stay there again, whatever the rate. As others have said, the property is badly in need of an overhaul. Outdated bathrooms, old furniture, plus an odd odor in the hallways. The staff was nice enough with plenty of smiles and hellos, but that cannot make up for the place feeling tired and untidy. Worst part of the stay is parking which is offered in two old parking decks on each side of the hotel. Both decks were extremely dirty, and felt strangely disconnected from the hotel since they are shared with an adjacent medical building. Pedestrian access from the decks to the hotel was not marked or lit well and felt unsafe at night. Just really no reason to stay here despite being in a good neighborhood for shopping and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location in South park

Overall the hotel is a little tired and is need of a makeover. Staff was pleasant, recognized status upon checkin. Decent free breakfast in the morning. Good hotel for the nightly rate, better than the courtyard next door. Will most likely stay again, but rooms could use a refresh. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrific experience

Aug 5th, 2019

We can’t wait to leave!! What a disaster!! Where to begin?? We asked 2 months in advance for an allergy free room, which for me meant no fragrance, mold, dust free etc... The room was “ ready “ so we were told. They overlooked a hole in the ceiling which had paint chips on the rug and of course a huge leak. Allergy free?? After changing rooms it wasn’t much better. They still used fragrance, filthy dirty rugs, walking around buckets filled with filthy water, crime science tape at the elevator for days, broken elevator lights for weeks and I still can go on and on! They really should be embarrassed to put there name on the sign if you can even find the sign due to a construction site opposite the hotel which starts everyday including Saturdays at 6:30 in the morning. You walk in choking on the dust and filth from the site with trucks coming and going, beeping ALL day long! There are no security cameras in the parking lot, so if somebody plows into your car like they did mine, their response was “ that’s too bad “! Please do yourselves a favor, DO NOT STAY HERE, I am sure the Red Roof Inn” is much cleaner, safer, CHEAPER and perhaps their staff cares! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had in ANY hotel in my 45+ years of travel!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Aug 4th, 2019

This stay was the most disappointing one I have ever had at a Residence Inn, which is our favorite of the Marriott properties. Level of service and hospitality were far below the standards I have come to expect from Residence Inn, and it does not even merit the 3 stars it showed on the Marriott site. We arrived after 9 PM after driving 13 hours from Massachusetts. We drove 2 extra hours on purpose so that we could stay at a Residence Inn rather than the Fairfield Inns at earlier exits. Since I have difficulty walking and use a cane, my husband dropped me at the lobby. Parking was a long way away in a garage next to the building. To get back to the building, he had to climb up one story. There was no handicapped parking close to the building. On checkin, there was absolutely no food in the mini-store, so we did not get the free food and drink due our Elite status. We were hoping to have that in place of going out to dinner after such a long day without supper. Nor were we offered the extra Bon Voy points, the usual alternative. Usually, these hotels have several menus of nearby places they recommend. Here there was only one pizza place flyer. When we called, we found it only had pizza and not even salads, so we passed on that and resorted to looking up places on the internet. There was yellow “crime scene” tape hanging from the side of the elevator doorway, with a note apologizing that we had to push the Down button in order to go Up because the Up button wasn’t working. Masking tape was still on the wall between the elevators. Was it too much trouble to take the tape off the wall? Sloppy housekeeping! The room can use some refurbishing. The tub had been patched, wallpaper was frayed, and there were no USB ports in the lamp bases as in updated rooms. This is clearly one of Marriott’s older hotels. Too busy merging to take care of current properties, I guess The place has a lot of resort features, which are nice for those guests who can use them. There was quite a party happening that night on the terrace below our room. I don’t begrudge them their good time, though. I just put in my earplugs. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
