OK but there must be better for the price

Feb 28th, 2019

Too dated for the price! The door didn't close as securely as I've seen in other hotels so I put a chair against it. Creepy. Old carpet, old sofa and chair but the bed was nice. The 10 cup coffee pot could be replaced since the filter unit didn't close from wear. The bathroom OK but floor not clean. Just lots of details missing for the price. The breakfast was the best of all the hotels on our trip and the attendant very good. Both evening and morning desk person very nice as well. Not enough lighting on the grounds, around cars for my comfort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice place to stay, but the heater could be improved

Jan 26th, 2019

Stayed here on business for two nights. The weather was chilly and rainy. Thermostat did not go above 70 even though it was set 73-75. I had several spiders in my room. Clean otherwise. Great shower. Quiet location of my room even though it is located on a busy street. Lots of nearby shopping and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast compared to some hotels I've stayed. Call ahead to make sure the heat is on in your room

Jan 20th, 2019

I understand why the hotel does it, but when I checked into my room, it was 55 degrees in the room. And the heating system they have is very slow to bring a room up to temperature. I went out for 3 hours, and when I came back, the room had only made it to 63. They were hesitating to move me to a different room because the other room like mine was an accessible room. It was only when I started to ask what other nearby hotels they could move me to that I got moved. Once the temperature issue was resolved, the hotel was fine. Other than going to the Burger King next door, the hotel is really not that walkable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dated property and bad service

Nov 24th, 2018

Having stayed at various Marriott properties over last 25-years and in various countries, this was one location that stood out for what was missing. The hotel had not toiletries in the bathroom and as a business traveler, that's something you do not always carry. Despite letting the front desk know about the issue on a 4-day stay, I had to go to Uber to a nearby pharmacy (despite now having any rental car) to get some supplies. Breakfast was so-so, and do not plan to come back to this place anytime soon, as there are other Marriott properties close by. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not just a chain hotel...a real stand out

Nov 22nd, 2018

I travel a good bit for work and for fun. As an elite Marriott member, I stay at a lot of different Marriott branded properties. I typically use Trip Advisor to share unique and special places that I come across and chain hotels don’t typically fall into this category. The Residence Inn Charlotte University Research Park stands out for their creativity, warm hospitality and sense of service. When we arrived on Wed, 11/21, the evening before Thanksgiving, we were greeted by Clay, a friendly front desk attendant, who was chatting with another guest about their Thanksgiving tree. This was an idea of one of the other employees who created a paper tree in the corner of the front desk area. Each guest could fill out a paper turkey to explain what they are giving thanks for this holiday. It was a great reminder of the holiday and a great connector. On Thanksgiving morning, I headed over to get some tea and found Eric, the GM, multi-tasking to keep breakfast and the front desk humming along smoothly. I told him that he looked busy and he said that he tries to give as many employees off on holidays. He certainly maintains good service while doing so. A lot of people talk about service leadership, Eric seems to live it!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
