A nightmare, heartless customer service

We reserved a King suite (with separate bedroom and living area) 5 nights in advance and did early check-in via the app the morning of our check in date. We were literally en route to the hotel when we were contacted by hotel staff and told there was an issue with the air conditioning in the room we reserved and that the hotel was completely booked. After several phone calls to the hotel manager (John) and customer care, we still do not have comparable accommodations. We originally reserved a one bedroom suite with a door separating the bedroom from living area. ( We are a family with two teenagers and specifically reserved this room to provide privacy).We were told that there was no such room available in the area now that it is "last minute ". The manager John claimed the best he could do was arrange for us to stay at a local Hampton Inn in a King suite without a separate bedroom area and would only pay for one of the nights during our planned two night stay. We inquired about possibly getting two adjoining rooms so that we could have the privacy of separate sleeping areas. He stated that there were no adjoining rooms available in the area. However, a quick call by myself to Hampton Inn reservations proved this to be untrue. John still refused to comp us for at least one night in adjoining rooms. A call to customer care didn't even help . I was told by Trish at "Elite Customer Care" that even if she was able to help us find a one bedroom suite or adjoining rooms that the additional cost would be our responsibility and would not be comped, even for one night of our stay. We were offered 10000 points for a future stay at a Marriott hotel but informed that we would need to purchase additional points in order to have enough for a one night stay. When we called customer care and inquired about the possibility of receiving points sufficient for a one night stay, we were told that was not possible. We are so extremely disappointed in this hotel and the Marriott company. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dated but good service

This Residence Inn has seen better days - it needs renovation and updates, but it does have a kitchenette that is still functional and the location is good. There’s a free breakfast buffet and the staff are friendly and helpful. The three stars is due to location and staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Showing it’s Age

The Residence Inn is fine, but it is no longer worthy of the Marriott banner. It is very aged even though it has been updated. The ceilings are low. The hallways are narrow and dark. The best part of this place is that there are plenty of restaurants with walking distance. The front desk personnel were super friendly too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

BEST STAFF EVER...!!!

Special thanks to this amazing staff! We had a maintenance issue and Engineer Jessica was on the spot, as was Jeremiah when the weather was making our TV pixelate (hint, try unplugging it from the wall, that works). Others who went above and beyond were Kayla and Emily. Yes, there is a Home Depot adjacent so if you are a light-sleeper, ask for a room on the other side. The good news is windows open for a breeze. You are right in the center of things once you leave the hotel, which is really convenient. We had a Taco Truck on night for the Mix and it was quite a thrill to march up and get your order complimentary. Love that about Residence Inn. A good stay and we shall return. Wonderful customer service from assistance with on-line booking, pet policy and Marriott Rewards! Special thanks to Michelle at the front desk/telephone for excellent assistance. I love this brand and stay at Residence Inns whenever possible. This was a quick getaway for us and our small puppy. Pet welcome policy in place will easy accommodations. Our pet enjoyed the visit as much as we did! Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of selections and options. Convenient location with easy access to downtown Corpus or a short drive over to Port A. Thanks again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
