Friendly & helpful staff, great location, nice amenities, could use some updates.

Jun 1st, 2020

I recently relocated to the RTP area and ended up spending nearly 7 weeks in this hotel between February and March 2020. So, I ended up seeing what the hotel was like before the Covid-19 situation, in the early stages of the situation, and then after full-blown "social distancing" went into effect. Overall, the hotel is in a great location, with a Chik-Fil-A across the street, multiple restaurants and shopping areas within a half-mile radius, and the RTP businesses within 5-10 minutes. It's very close to I-40 and you can reach almost anywhere in the area within about 20 minutes. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but not too bad. Some of the criticisms and complaints I saw in earlier reviews seemed to miss that Residence Inns don't have some of the amenities that were sought after (e.g. mini-bars, luggage racks) and so they wouldn't be in any other hotel in this brand. The rooms all have full size refrigerators, microwaves, and stoves. This brand is designed for long-term guests who want some "home style" amenities and don't want to go out for dinner every night or would rather eat in their room. The staff here were all incredibly friendly and nearly all were helpful. I really enjoyed talking with them and they all did their best to accommodate any of my requests. The one area where they could use some improvement is with the housekeeping staff (this is a common problem for hotels). The cleaning staff were very inconsistent in their work, came at all different times of the day, and when I would be in the room I had two separate ones smile and say something like "oh, ok, so you don't want any service today, good-bye" and try to walk away. Meanwhile, I was happy to leave and had to ask them to stay and clean the room. In both cases their disappointment that they would have to clean the room was evident. It was immature and unprofessional. After the full-blown social distancing went into effect, all housekeeping in the rooms was stopped, as was the daily breakfast. For guests who want these services, it will likely be a while before hotels do it again. But again, whenever I asked for towels, cleaning supplies, bedsheets, etc. the staff at the front desk quickly and courteously provided them. Unfortunately, as with so many other hotels their business plummeted after the distancing was mandated and most staff were furloughed. It was sad but again the remaining staff did their best. If you'll be in the RTP area for a multiple night stay and would like kitchen amenities and at a decent rate, with friendly staff, I highly recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location

I spent two nights at this hotel tor business. It was my first time in Raleigh. I will say breakfast (free) was great. Also, free parking was in my favor. The room was a standard room with a kitchen. I felt comfortable and safe. It was a 14 minute drive to the airport early in the morning. There is a chic filetin walking distance, added bonus! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You should set your expectation low, very low.

This Hotel(more a Motel) is very simple. The rooms are big with a kitchen, but everything is old and worn out. There is no mini bar on the room, not even water bottles. There was a big fridge, but totally empty. The bad was not properly cleaned for the whole week that I stayed there. There where long black hairs on the show curtain and the pee on the bottom side of the toilet seat. The breakfast was very, very simple with a throw-away mentality. Only disposable plates, plastic cups and utensils. Every single cup had shrink-wrap. They had bagels and biscuits with Nutella, Philadelphia cream cheese and some jam. There was scrambled eggs every day, but no bacon all the week. There was a small selection of yogurt. There was also 1 sort of fruit every day. Mostly banana, but they had apples as well for one day in the week. The other guests seem to be construction workers mostly. If this was a 50$/night Hotel, then it would be ok. But they charge up to 150$/night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't Go There!

Nov 30th, 2019

Yes, it was recently renovated and looks decent, but: 1. No luggage racks in the rooms. It is their policy not to have luggage racks, a big problem for us since there were three of us in a two-bedroom unit for five nights, and had to use the bed or floor to get our clothes, or else completely unpack and then repack when we were ready to leave. When we asked for a luggage rack at the front desk, the employee didn't know what we were talking about. 2. No chair in the bedrooms. See above--if no luggage rack, at least a chair? It was explained to us that they do not put chairs in the bedrooms because one of the bedrooms is too small to fit a chair, and if they put one in the larger room, the person who had the smaller room would be angry. Really??? 3. Freezing! The first night was so cold we got up at 3 am and shut off the fan, which was blowing cold air. Today, four days later, we have the thermostat set at 75 but the fan still blows cold air. 4.3:30 pm on day three and housekeeping still hasn't been here--didn't come on day one, which was Thanksgiving, so we figured it was because of the holiday. Didn't come on day two. Haven't come here yet, although we have been to the front desk several times. 5. Go somewhere else. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
