Great Stay, Horrible Customer Service

Dec 16th, 2019

My family and I stayed here for a one night over the weekend, the hotel was very clean, room was clean, however customer service was absolutely horrible. I asked for an extra blanket and literally had to come down and get it an hour later. Each of the staff I dealt with from the moment of check in to check out were short. Breakfast was hectic and there were limited options for people that do not eat pork. Finally, my main gripe, there was an incidental charge that was more then the usual 40 something dollars, it was pretty much double the authorized charge to my room pending on my bank account a day and a half after my stay. When I called to express my concern to the front desk and asked about the policy for incidentals, the lady literally cut me off talking so fast and tried to tell me what should be charged. She was very rude and DID NOT listen. I understand that they have to deal with alot of people during this season. But there is absolutely no reason to be unprofessional when you are talking to guests. Your represent Marriott Corportation and should present yourself as such. This is not McDonalds, and even customer service there is better then what I experienced here. The staff needs to be trained on better customer service because this is going to effect how people view this property in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fine, no complaints

Nov 28th, 2019

The location, for a stop breaking up a long trip, was very convenient--not far from the highway, very near a Whole Foods and other shops and restaurants--and the hotel worked very well for us. When I called they said the room windows didn't open, but that turned out not be true, which was unexpected good news for us, as we wanted--not because of anything unusual about the room, just a preference of ours--to bring some fresh air in. Friendly enough check-in during a crowded holiday weekend, quiet enough. The closest thing we had to a problem was that there was no covered area for loading up the car when it rained. We would use the place for the same purpose again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay for a Weekend Trip with Dogs

Aug 25th, 2019

My wife and I stayed here for two nights over a weekend on our first trip with our dogs. The hotel was perfect for a dog-friendly family vacation. The location is a quiet neighborhood along an access road. It's listed as an airport hotel, but honestly I don't even know where the airport was, since we drove down. The isolated location is a benefit, since you don't see a lot of extraneous traffic around the hotel. An adjacent apartment complex has a nice trail around a pond behind the buildings, which made a perfect dog walk. And even though the hotel is in a quiet area, you're not more than a few minutes from a ton of restaurants and across the road from a mall, so you have immediate access to lots of things. The building was well-kept with friendly staff and the usual perks of a Residence Inn. The free breakfast was decent, although if we were staying there for a long vacation I'm sure I would want something different eventually. There was ample parking. Our room was perfect for keeping the dogs in. We were on the end of the building, right next to an exit, so we had quick access to the outside for potty breaks. The rooms also had thick walls, so we had no problems with noises outside triggering the dogs. And the suite room design meant we could keep the dogs in the bedroom, behind a closed door, so they wouldn't bug people by barking too much. Compared to other hotels in the area, the pet fees were a good deal, especially if you are going to stay for a while ($100 flat fee, regardless of how long you stay, compared to a price per dog per night at some other places). If we're back in the Newport/Williamsburg area with the dogs again, we'd probably return to this hotel. It served our purposes admirably. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OK stay

Aug 22nd, 2019

I flew into PHF for business and my company put me up here for two nights. The lobby and main area are nicely appointed, and staff was always friendly. The room itself, while a little worn, was large and clean. Breakfast is the only food I had there, and it was perfectly fine by hotel chain standards. The only real downside for me was that I could smell bug spray in the bathroom, where the main vent was - presumably they were spraying in other rooms and the smell was getting into the vent. I’m as paranoid as anybody about bugs, but I didn’t see any during my stay, just that smell. It seems a little unfair to downgrade the rating because of their active attempts to spray and control for pests, but it put a damper on things for me. I would stay here again, but it wouldn’t be my first choice in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fortunate to be able to stay at this property again for business. Well maintained, clean and up to date furnishings. The staff is super friendly with easy check in and check out. Lots of restaurants in every price range nearby. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
