Not the best place to stay...
Feb 20th, 2020
We were there last weekend with our youth hockey team. The rooms were reserved by the hockey tournament association. Cons---The hotel was a 3 star at best. The rooms were dirty--no other words for it.. One of the parents found a condom wrapper on the bedroom floor. Another parent changed his room because of the strong smell of smoke in his room. The furniture in our suite was old, stained and did not look clean at all. We used the sofabed and the blanket and pillow had old stains on them. The complimentary breakfast was not good. It was fine for a bunch of young boys but I thought it was awful. And I am not picky. There wasn't even a cold water jug out for the guests. If you wanted cold water, you had to buy a bottle yourself. (They do give you bottles of water when you check-in which I thought was a nice touch.) Pros--The bed in the bedroom was quite comfortable. We were given a suite with a view because of my husband's Marriott status. The view was really nice overlooking all of Pittsburgh. The lady that checked us in was very nice and pleasant. The outdoor area is probably nice during the warmer months. The big fridge in the room was useful. The microwave was the smallest one that I have ever seen. But for people coming to that hotel for a long time for the hospital, the kitchenette probably helps out a lot with cost savings. Overall, I would not stay here again. The hotel needs a deep clean of carpets and furniture. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Wonderful breakfast service and staff with gluten free options.

I’ve been staying here for 3 days so far (I am writing this in the middle of my stay). The free breakfast is superior to most hotels in this price range, but what makes it top notch is the staff. Marlene Thomas was so kind and helpful. I have celiac disease (can’t have gluten), and in addition to some fruit, yogurt, and eggs, she made sure that I had additional gluten free choices to start my day out with a full meal (pre-packed Udi’s bagels and separately packaged Cheerios). It is such a pleasure to stay at a hotel that takes their guests needs seriously, and to couple that with a caring staff who want to ensure we have everything we want, makes this place a winner! Thanks Marlene and Residence Inn! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My wife was a guest from 12-03-2019 UNTIL 02-12-2020, while I recoverd from a "liver transplant", from the outstanding property to the beyond outstanding staff, specifically Cecil our daily shuttle bus driver, this Marriott property is the ultimate lodging that we have ever experianced since being members of Marriott rewards club since the mid 1980's. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU PITTSBURGH UNIVERSITY/MEDICAL CENTER (GO CECIL) we will always stay at this property and strongly will recommend many other veteran and non veterans to experince the best of the best!!!! Pleasantly surprised - these accommodations up on the hill are nicely updated. Greeted every time with professional, friendly, and helpful front desk staff. Had a spacious Queen room with LR seating area, desk at the window, and kitchen; tv swivels from bed to LR. Mine was overlooking the city and the inviting courtyard with seating, fireplace, & big screen TV. Breakfast that’s offered daily had good hot & cold selections, including make your own waffle stations. The hostess, Marlene Thomas, provides excellent service, attention to detail, and exudes a positive energy that’s the perfect start to anyone’s morning. HH in the common area M/T/W Eve with complimentary bevs & lite fare. The shuttle was very convenient, but limited to 1 mile radius. Planning to stay there again, should the need arise.
