One of the best Residence Inn's I've stayed at recently. Typical room size and felt up to date. Small but ample workout room. Typical breakfast but more areas to sit. Parking is available but in next building so drop off bags first. Pretty good location at end of waterfront, accessible but not in middle of tourist area. Love Betty's and Holy Donuts! Staff very helpful. Shout out to Edith for her positive demeanor and amazing skill juggling during busy time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Value for Money insuffient!

We stayed 2 nights in the “Residence Downtown/Waterfront” in Portland in a standard room on the second floor, costing more than 1000 $ which is unbelievably expensive for what you get. When we checked in we asked for sea view but were told that unfortunately on both sides of the hotel major construction work was going on. So we asked if we could see the room first but were told “no, we would need to check in first”. We checked in, but had to ask for an alternative as the first room directly faced a brick wall (see photo). We were told that there was only one room left on the other side but facing a construction site as well (see second photo). The room was large and ok, though the shower curtain was smelly. Many guests had pets in this hotel - I don’t like to be in an elevator with dogs, one of them had a muzzle which was rather intimidating, another dog touching me with wet fur: I feel this is a no go for an “upscale” hotel. Finally the “Waterfront” in the hotel name is in my opinion deceptive, to say the least. Value for money is absolutely insufficient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Does a dog friendly hotel mean dogs are always barking
Aug 10th, 2019
Maybe this review is more about those who stay in this hotel, than about customer service. Yet, as a long time Starwood traveling, most hotels have dog free floors or keep dogs to one floor. Not the residence in Portland. Dogs roam freely. We had to listen to a dog barking for hours on end. My profile at Starwood clearly stated that I require a dog free floor. Though after the merger, no such field exists. Next time in Portland I will remember to stay at the Westin. In addition to following a clear policy, they have the most awesome blueberry yogurt pancakes. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had a great one night stay at Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Waterfront. Shaine checked us in quickly and was an immediate help. We loved the list of his suggestions for the area. We found a place to park on the street so we put some quarters in the meter to cover the hour left of paid meter parking and left the car on the street overnight saving the $24 fee. Meter parking is from 9:00-6:00 Monday - Saturday. We didn't get to our car until 10:00 the next morning thankfully, with no ticket. The room was fantastic. Clean, comfortable, and with a great shower. We had a fantastic view of the construction next to the building. It was still very quiet, no issues at all. From our great night out we were unable to eat breakfast. It looked really great. This place is a nice spot in Portland. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This property is a disgrace to the Marriot name. I stay about 135+ nights a year in hotels and just recently started using Marriot properties instead of IHG for my business trips. The lack of follow through and disregard for guest complaints at this property is pathetic. My shower had mold in it and the shampoo and conditioner containers were empty. There was blood on the top sheet. There was a pile of towels in my room not put away. The parking situation is equally as bad as they charge $24 a night to park in the parking garage next door which was full every time I pulled in and I had to wait for someone to leave. One day I waited 40 minutes and ended up parking down the road and wound up with a $20 ticket for staying longer than two hours. I brought the issues to the attention of the front desk staff immediately and they were very apologetic. Unfortunately they needed a manger to assist and none of the managers would even come out and talk to me. They said they would get a manager to call me and they never did so I went back down the next day and still no managers were available. I went back to the front desk three times and yet no manager was available but I was told they would call me right away which still has not happened. I went on their chat to request a number for their main office and 30 minutes in the chat waiting and they still have not responded. I was very patient when this started but now I am getting pretty angry that no one was willing to address my concerns. I will never stay at this property and I am questioning staying at any other Marriot after this experience. I wish I would have read reviews on this place as it appears house keeping is an issue here. It is clear that the leadership at this property or lack of needs to be addressed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
