Overall a nice place with a few issues
Aug 1st, 2020
Residence inn is my favorite Extended Day Hotel. These were nice rooms with a big TV. But I has some issues here. Don’t be too quick to grab the bottle of water in the refrigerator that you’re thinking “how nice of them to leave this for me.” If you drink that it’s $3.50, because MARRIOTT just isn’t making enough off of what you’re paying for the room! How bad was it before renovation
Jul 12th, 2020
We checked into a renovated room and were not impressed. Bed is extra hard, so is the couch. AC is very noisy. Between the hard bed and noisy AC I could not get a good night sleep. Based on Marriott Covid 19 cleaning standards the room was not clean. All dishes were in the dishwasher, but didn’t look clean. We rewashed the dishes and later washed all pots and pans. There is no oven as in description and pictures. Guess renovation omitted it. Only microwave and two burner stovetop. We planned to eat in because of Covia, but limited without oven. Place lacks color and looks dreary. Breakfast is only prepackaged, grab-and-go. Not even a banana. No sponge or liquid detergent at kitchen sink, but that might be omitted because of Covid. Dirty, outdated, poor service. Does not meet the Residence Inn by Marriott standards. Avoid.

I have stayed at many Residence Inn by Marriott hotels. They are known for being immaculate, have good service, and being comfortable. And, they allow pets to boot! But this place misses the mark by so much and it is dishonest for them to use Marriott in the name. FYI, my company paid my bill so my review is honest and not related to the room cost. I have traveled around the world and seen the best Marriott properties. So, my rating of terrible is relative to other Marriott properties. Of course this place is probably better than a budget motel, but when you stay at a budget motel you expect it to be poor. If International travelers are reading this I am warning them to NOT stay here. This is a very old and worn out hotel with low popcorn ceilings. The first thing I noticed is that the hallway carpets are littered with debris everywhere. I have seen this before in hotels that are under renovation. Hence, I believe that the 4-star reviews you will find for this hotel are from the few lucky people who got the renovated room. Check-in experience was good. I give them 4-stars. She did welcome me as a member of the frequent travelers. Check in was fast. Cleanliness was poor and did not meet the Marriott standard. This hotel is filthy, which is surprising since they say that they have implemented extra cleaning due to the corona virus. The dirty hand prints on the doors and elevator walls are obvious. Lots of crumbs in the kitchen from previous residents. Black hair on the floor in the bathroom (mine is not black). I saw the maintenance person in the hall. Just wearing dirty ripped jeans. I know he was a hotel worker because he came out of one of the service room. I guess they don't have a dress code? Or Maybe it was his day off? Check out was poor. All she said was "Do you want a printed copy of your bill?". She didn't thank me, ask me if I had any issues with the room, or give me details about breakfast. I guess "The Spirit to Serve Marriott's Way" isn't required reading for Residence Inn. The motto of the Residence Inn by Marriott Reno is "don't let the door hit you on your way out". My family and I came for the weekend of Oct 26-27, 2019, to see the pro fights at the Reno convention center. It was only a 10 minute drive. We had the 1 bedroom suite, and a sofa bed. Everything worked great, didnt use the kitchen but it had everything we would have needed. The free breakfast was as good as a Dennys, and had hot and cold items. Coffee was fresh and hot. No complaints, only compliments. Staff was very nice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great stay in Spark NV

Our son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren live in Sparks. Recently Marriott finished construction on their new location. The location is great and the service was excellent. The rooms are clean, and nicely appointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
