DO NOT STAY HERE. UNSAFE- THEFT, BED BUGS, & POLICE BUST

Nov 25th, 2019

We stayed here for 2 weeks with our cat, dog, and 6 month old while we were moving. The staff was friendly. The room was rundown but we understood with us having pets. We parked our utility trailer in the parking lot and told the staff we'd be keeping it there. The 3rd night there our trailer was broken in to and we lost over $2,500 worth of stuff. The locked cooler holding our items was sawed in to. The hotel helped call the police and shared with us that they had been having issues with homeless people breaking in to their dumpster and that they advise that guests store valuables with the hotel. Never did anyone mention this to us when we said we were parking a trailer. They also have no security cameras with this known issue. The next day we found bed bugs in our room. The hotel helped by washing our clothes on high heat but that shrunk most of our clothes. Their exterminator also didn't bring the oil to decontaminate our suitcases, pack n play, and baby toys. He inspected the items and fogged the suitcases but it caused the suitcases to smell. The hotel wiped down the suitcases with Clorox wipes but it only removed the smell temporarily. They originally offered to reimburse for new suitcases but wouldn't reimburse us when we arrived to our new home with smelly suitcases. This caused about another $1,000 in items lost. The hotel has concerning things happening in the parking lot. A huge police bust happened in the cul-de-sac where the hotel is located while we were staying there. We found syringe caps in the hallway and sharp picks. I felt very unsafe with my family staying there and we should have left immediately after the theft. Unfortunately we had to wait for our bed bug items to be decontaminated. The staff was very nice and helpful but Marriott did nothing to try to make up for this terrible experience. I even filed a claim with them and never received a return call. We will be steering clear of Marriott's and our relocation company has black listed this property. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It's All About the Service!

Oct 1st, 2019

My husband and I have had two days of challenging travel. We arrived at 7:00 pm and received a warm welcome from the reception desk. My husband had to attend to some business, and didn't return to the hotel until after 9. We were towing airplane parts on a trailer, so really didn't feel like going out to find a place to eat. That's when Tim came to the rescue. I think he could tell we looked starved and tired, and he made up a "goodie pack" for us. As we were enjoying the snack, Tim arrived at our door with fresh fruit, water, milk and cookies and more goodies. His kindness is something we won't soon forget! This is the kind of service that makes a stay memorable. The room was lovely - spacious and comfortable, but nothing will top how we were treated! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great service does make a difference

Jul 14th, 2019

We arrived at the hotel quite late in the evening. There were 12 of us (4 adults and the rest aged from 15 months to 17 years) We were tired from our long drive from San Francisco. Shaun was at the front desk and he welcomed us from the get go. He went out of his way to cater for our large and noisy entourage, offered the children snacks and basically made us feel at home. He went over and beyond the call of duty and ensured we had everything we needed and that included pulling out 2 extra foldaway beds for our rooms. Our only regret is that we couldn’t take him with us. His colleagues were just as friendly and I also regret not taking their names as one of them recommended the best place for crafts and basically saved us time and money. The breakfast buffet provided was very filling and there was a lot on offer. I even heard one customer say that it was better than some of the breakfast buffets they offer at the expensive hotels. The rooms were comfortable and clean and had a good kitchen space for large families. It was the friendly and helpful service that made our stay and we will stay there again if somebody else was to graduate from Oregon University. Thank you Shaun and staff! You guys are the epitome of world class customer service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Convenient Residence Inn property off the I-5

Jul 8th, 2019

Stayed: Friday July 5th to Sunday July 7th; 2 Adults with a Dog PROS: Very Convenient location off of the I-5, at Exit 253 (Detroit/ Bend), next door to Costco and a 5 minute drive to a Super Walmart...One of the main reasons, for staying at this property was because it is a pet friendly property, with ample grassy areas for your dog...Large Suite with a Kitchen and a Full-Size Refrigerator... CONS: The convenience of an easy access to the I-5 can be a detriment as well, because this Residence Inn property is literally next to this I-5. So, if you are a light sleeper or not use to hearing the sounds of cars & trucks buzzing by at 70 miles per hour, then this may be an issue for you...If you are planning to stay with your dog, please remember to bring your own "doggie bags", because it appears that the sign where it suppose to have doggie bags, has been vandalized and no longer has a place for the doggie bags...Staff could be a little more cordial. During our stay here, we came across 5 different Residence Inn staff and the only one that took the time to greet us and wish us a great day was the Breakfast Host, that was working on Sunday, July 7th. All in all, this is a good Residence Inn property, as it is one of the few properties in the Salem area that has a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator. On the other side of the coin, this property is showing its age in some areas, especially in the room that we were staying in. The common areas like the Breakfast gathering area and the small lobby area have been updated and looks fine. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quiet and good location with quality breakfast

Jun 16th, 2019

We stayed here while attending the graduation in Corvallis (OSU). Hotels were at a premium in Corvallis, Salem is just a short drive away. It is conveniently located near I-5 South. The location is quiet. Breakfast buffet is quite nice, lots of variety. The only thing is the lobby area had an odor to it, most likely from the swimming pool very near by. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
