Very friendly, thanx

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Thanx especially to the front desk staff as well as Venus (ya have to love her) and the dining staff. Rooms aren’t quite as nice and bright as normal but they’re good. Very packed for the M-W mixers but still able to sneak down and grab something. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lots of potential but not very good right now

Jan 26th, 2020

First the positives. Underground parking is great in the winter, easy to access, and available for $10/day (but free for Bonvoy program elite members). Hotel location is good, within easy walking distance of many restaurants, most of downtown, and the Trax light rail lines to the airport and all over the city. And the front desk staff were always personable and helpful. But all this can't overcome what seems to be a poorly staffed and maintained property. Housekeeping service was very inconsistent, with various jobs left incomplete at various times and cleaning rags left around the room (I stayed for 11 nights so I got to see a lot). The hotel uses old-fashioned magnetic-strip plastic door keys that very easily become de-coded, forcing extra trips to the front desk for new keys. It's nice having kitchens in the rooms, but mine wasn't thought out well - the refrigerator door opened towards the exit to the hallway rather than the countertop and dishwasher and stove and sink. An attentive staff and competent maintenance person could switch the doors to open the right way in probably 20 minutes, but so far nobody has cared enough to do it. Bathtub/shower water temperature was hot enough but very finicky and hard to set comfortably. Even small details were irritating - the in-room guest safe is of the thin, vertical type rather than the conventional horizontal box type, limiting what you can put into it and forcing you to balance things and stack them up in the safe. Adding to these frustrations, one evening the entire hotel's TV system went out of order (during the national college football championship game, no less), and there was nobody who could fix it until after 7 am the next morning. Later in the same week the internet was down for several hours. On top of everything, the fitness center is only modestly appointed and requires an uncomfortable outdoor winter walk to another building. Daily breakfast is free, but lacks much variety and is fairly bland. Normally I trust the Marriott brands to keep properties in better shape than this. Unfortunately this one was a disappointment.
