We only spent one night here, but had a great stay. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite with kitchen and living room. Had everything we needed. The rooms were very up-to-date and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast had nice options. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Very friendly and prompt service, quiet and comfortable space in the city

I like the Residence Inn because there are so many consistencies across their properties. This one met almost all of my expectations and had a couple of extras. The lobby and breakfast area are well maintained, and clean. Coffee was always ready and fresh. There was one young man who was at the front desk during the day who was particularly friendly, cheerful and helpful. The breakfast buffet offered a similar selection as I seen at other Marriott's. They really should consider mixing it up a little. Other Marriott's offer french toast, or sausage biscuits and gravy or pancakes. This buffet has the standard waffle maker but serves a lot of overcooked scrambled eggs and egg whites. In the evening they offer weeknight extras that I have seen at some RI's. One night they had clam chowder and a glass of wine. That sort of extra for their weeknight visitors is a pleasant addition. One thing I missed that is common in other RI's is fresh baked cookies or mini desserts that are generally found near the coffee area between 4 and 6 PM. The strangest issue I had was with my bathtub. The bottom was sloped inward and it was uncomfortable to stand in to shower. Standing, your ankles are turned in. It may have been a remodel of a tub the was done poorly. I have never had this experience anywhere. Other, then that, the bed and linens were fresh and clean, the living room and kitchen were also perfectly immaculate. The room was quiet. Oh - I also used the business center and it is well maintained and functional. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Everything good except the Breakfast

The room was good. AC was loud. Front Desk people were nice. Breakfast was Terrible. Lack of everything. No plain yogurt. No whole wheat bread. The only fresh Fresh fruit was bananas. There was some overripe or very old pineapple. The Oatmeal was Very watery. Looked like soup! When I asked the Gal in the Breakfast room about the lack of things to eat she said they usually have more items during the week? So if you come on the weekend expect a lousy breakfast. Not what I expect from a Marriott property. I have been a Marriott member for many years. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had a trip for honeymoon and really enjoyed it! Stayed 2 days than continue thru whole island at different Marriott chains. If you rented a car. The location is really central for everything. Thank you! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Immature Desk Agent

We changed a family trip to Key West as our daughter was unwell. We decided to stay in Sarasota since we love Siesta Key and our extended family was in town. This property appeared clean and well-kept, but we didn’t end up staying here due to our interaction with the front desk agent, Johan. Initially I asked about a two bedroom suite and the availability of the room since our daughter was running a slight fever and would sleep better in a quiet space away from the common areas. The two bedroom suite was available until Johan determined that we planned to use points to reserve the room and then, suddenly it was no longer an option. I politely asked if we could possibly have that room as our daughter was unwell, but Johan told me that he had a few Platinum Elite member checking in after us and we were only Gold Elite so he needed the room available. I understand the different rankings of Marriott membership, and also understand that the business travelers will far outrank a family who is going away for a few days at a time. I was dismayed by his lack of compassion, but we sat on the couch next to the front desk and started to call around to other local properties to check room availability. As I was calling the other local Marriott hotels, a single gentleman dressed for business approached the desk next to us to check in. I stepped away to speak to another reservation agent, and my daughter fell asleep on the pillow while we were waiting to choose a hotel for the night. My husband overheard Johan verbally telling the single traveler that he had an upgrade available for him. When the single gentleman pointed out that he was one person and did not need a two bedroom suite, Johan mentioned that the beds were “slightly bigger”. The single gentleman reluctantly accepted the upgraded room and went on his way. I returned to the desk not knowing about this interaction and asked what the nightly rate was for the two bedroom suite if we paid outright. Johan smirked and said the room was no longer available. I turned around we we woke our daughter up and left. As we were walking across the parking lot to the other Marriott property, my husband recounted the story. The ladies across the way were much more accommodating. I am sure the larger room was lovely for the single traveler who used it, but Johan needs some training concerning his pettiness.
