Very quiet (if not facing the pool), Historic District right across the street

Aug 21st, 2019

I stayed here at least once a week in August 2019 on several floors. The structure is very well built: Walls and floors are virtually soundproof. I never heard neighbors above me, or on either side, even one that had a dog! I love that all my rooms were large and well-equipped studios (no oven), giving me the option to eat-in. The fourth floor hallway was stuffy and hot. Either something was wrong with the AC (the room AC was fine). I preferred the first floor facing the front (again, soundproof) because you get two almost floor-to-ceiling windows (see photo). On the other floors I only had one smaller window. The central courtyard houses the small outdoor pool, and when the kids start screaming, it reverberates! I'd never get a room directly overlooking the pool! Breakfasts are decent in the morning. The free 6p happy hour is a hit/miss on food/desserts, but I did enjoy one of the brands of beer (wine also available). There's lots of room in the lobby area to comfortably chill. A convenience store/gas station is right next door. The free wifi can be slow and spotty, but you have the option pay $4.95 for higher speed wifi. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Downtown Location

Aug 18th, 2019

The hotel is in a renovated building right off of MLK blvd. It is about a 10 minute walk to the waterfront. The staff is great. The breakfast and evening socials are quite nice. It is near many restaurants, the visitor center and the tour bus pickup point TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay

Aug 16th, 2019

This hotel is in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We brought our dog with us and they gave her a full size bag of cheese treats from Woof Gang Bakery which was nice. It's very pet friendly and we saw many dogs there during our stay. The hotel and rooms are clean. It has a nice pool and courtyard. The free breakfast has a nice variety of things like eggs, grits, sausage, pastries, bagels, waffles, cold cereals and juices and coffee. The rooms come with a full size fridge and a stove top and microwave. It's also stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils and pans if you want to make your own food. I also liked the socials they host on certain evenings that include complimentary beer, wine, sodas and a variety of appetizers. This hotel offers a great value for the price. I would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel with breakfast included

Aug 16th, 2019

The hotel is very nice, a good breakfast buffet is included every morning. The pool area is good and perfect to cool off in the Savannah heat. The hotel is located very close to the visitor center which is where a lot of tours pick you up so that is nice. You can also walk a bit and catch any of the DOT buses for free to get around Savannah. Savannah Square Ice Pops is within walking distance and I highly recommend! Their also is a Cuban restaurant within walking distance that is delicious! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pretty outside, amazing staff - a dirty mess on the inside that needs help

Aug 15th, 2019

First off, the staff without exception were the most polite I've ever had in a Marriott property at any level. They were helpful and friendly and that was the best thing about the stay. The central courtyard and pool area were very nicely designed but it was too hot to really spend any time outside in that area. On the other hand, the facility was filthy. The common area where breakfast was served looked like it was never swept or mopped. When I stepped into the elevator upon arrival to go to my room on the 2nd floor, the carpet was stained and torn, and it smelled like a wet dog. The carpet in the hallway walking to my room (217) was dirty and had strings strewn down it as though it hadn’t been vacuumed in quite some time. Checking into the room, there was visible dust and pieces of dirt on the desk chair (a vinyl seat), the kitchen countertop was cracked and worn although the sink did appear to have been cleaned, and the room carpet needed to be vacuumed. The stuffed headboard was actually torn all along above the pillow line and it looked as though it had been scratched and pulled at by peoples’ hands (disgusting). There was a visible amount of dust on the bathroom mirror along the top, and the counter top had a layer of dirt you could feel. Although it appeared that the towels were new, it looked as though the room had not been cleaned, and it certainly had not been deep cleaned (carpet, etc.) in a very, very long time. The soft goods (carpet, upholstery, curtains, lampshades, etc.) are in DIRE need of replacing and perhaps the housekeeping staff could use some retraining or better oversight. Its not a bad location and it was a business trip so we had to have the rate offered, but I would not choose to stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
