Great Hotel!

Sep 2nd, 2020

I flew down to Birmingham the week of August 24th. I chose this hotel because it was centrally located to my relatives in the surrounding area. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff very friendly and professional. The suite style setup was very useful since I was traveling with my daughter. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Plenty of restaurants and shopping in the immediate vicinity and very close to all the major freeways. You can be almost anywhere within 20 minutes. All covid precautions were followed and I felt very comfortable staying there. I come from NJ so I am used to very stringent restrictions. I would definitely stay there on any return trip. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and warm during our stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Do not take up Residence Here

Aug 24th, 2020

I gave this hotel an "excellent" rating. It was an excellent example of what you should avoid when you are looking for a hotel. The bathroom was absolutely filthy and in need of immediate repairs. Further, the person who rented the room before me obviously thought the same thing because they left a note saying as much with a bottle of some sort of cleaner. I mean it appeared as though the room had been serviced but the bathroom not cleaned, apparently on more than one occasion. I continued my stay because I did not have any alternative and I didn't check the bathroom on the first night because I stayed with a friend at the Renaissance. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lacking covid 19 precautions

Jul 17th, 2020

My family and I always stay at this hotel at least once a year on the way to the beach. We were on the fence about staying in a hotel given current times with pandemic going on. However, since we had really enjoyed our stay in this hotel prior we went ahead and booked... big mistake. As I entered the hotel lobby there was a sign which stated that a face covering was required. My family and I had ours on. We walked into the lobby and none of the hotel guests had on face coverings and there were about 20 people packed into the lobby right on top of each other. When I asked the lady at the front desk if masks were required she told me that they were supposed to be wearing them but they weren’t. I reached out to customer care and the man I spoke with on the phone offered no solution other than telling me personal stories about his son’s friend having Covid. I emailed customer care and I was assured that someone from hotel would call me and take action. A lady called me today from the hotel and just told me that they couldn’t implement mask wearing, then she proceeded to tell me a personal story but offered no solution to me. Sadly, I am done staying at Marriott hotels for forswear me future. I’m very disappointed that my family’s health (or health of the general public) is not valued enough to improve the situation. Great Service

Jul 16th, 2020

First of all, I want to say how great the staff here is!! They are friendly, helpful and really want their guests happy. Big shout out to Stephanie and April on the front desk!! They are warm and kind and personable and were so happy to help out! Our room was very nice, granite counters, well stocked kitchen, nice towels and sheets. We were here for a week for a baseball tournament and enjoyed the pool and sitting outside in the evenings visiting with everyone. The location was great, plenty of restaurants and grocery near by. We would stay here again!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location - but a tired old hotel

Mar 9th, 2020

Aging and outdated. Lots of scuffs, stained and worn out furniture, no up to date plug ins for electronic devices. Older breakfast area with an uncomfortable seating arrangement. Can't say I would never stay there again, but I would look for something nicer, but worth it if you get a good price. On the plus side - Front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful. They also have a great fire pit and a nice swimming pool if you are bringing the kids. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
