Really Gone Downhill.

We have routinely used this hotel while traveling with our dog for over 10 years. After our last stay, I will never stay at this Marriott property again. While it has never been a glamorous hotel it was always clean and the staff was incredibly nice. We even returned here after our car was broken into at the property a few years ago. Do not park forward facing the railroad tracks. Our last trip the room did not feel overly clean. There was remnants of previous guests under the bed (food wrapper), the shower rod was bent almost off the wall and the curtain pooled into the middle of it. I had to hook it into the air conditioner vent to keep it open, bags of trash from other guests sitting in the hallway and the property just needs a refresh in general. But despite all of this my biggest beef was with an employee who told me that late check outs are only available to gold members and above. Which I totally get, however they did not input my member number correctly and told me I was a new member. I have been with Marriott rewards for 15 + years and my husband is platinum. I eventually called after shift change and got my late check out. But my interaction with the previous employee sealed my opinion in this property. And while the employees are wearing masks, no one is wearing them in the hallways and elevators. Sad to check Residence Inn, Norfolk Airport off my list. It was very convenient for us when we were coming through my hometown. And I am not a “ Karen”. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
EXCELLENT MANAGER - WONDERFUL STAY

My family and I were so impressed with the Welcome and Excellent Customer Service we received from the GM Rachel. Rachel treated us like it was our HOME and we were so thankful for her hospitality. We were visiting my son in the Navy and will definitely be back again to this location that Rachel called our "HOME". Thank You to Marriott for having employees like this - we are grateful. Worst Residence Inn ever

After a traveling 25 hours from the EU, we checked in at midnight. First impression at the desk was normal. Very friendly and nice desk clerk and it went downhill as we made our way to our room. People were roaming the halls, we could hear (and feel) the beat of loud music and smell marijuana. There were young ladies roaming around packs of 3 and 4. Very sketchy. We had to body slam our way into our room as the door would not open. The cloth couch was full of stains and disgusting. My husband immediately went to the desk to request a sheet or cover for it. As the minutes went by, we knew we couldn't stay at this location. The couch was dirty, the microwave was filthy, spaghetti sauce on the doorframe. We cut our stay short by 56 days and went to a different Residence Inn. Hard to believe this hotel is branded as a Residence Inn. I TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I normally do not wrote reviews about hotels, however, I feel this needed a special shout out to the ladies working the front desk. Cheryl M, Quehmah Y, a s Rachel R were beyond helpful. First of all, I did not have a reservation and simply walked in with hope they had a room. They did thankfully and not only dod they have a room but an excellent personality with lots of infectious laughter. Later after getting settled into my room I went to the business center. It was occupiedby one other person and the computer left was for some reason not connecting to the internet. They immediately got someone to go work on the computer and quickly ushered me to a guest service desk computer so I could print out important documents I needed for a meeting. They were a much needed breath of fresh air in my day. Thank you ladies, if only you knew how horrible things have been lately you really did leave an impact just showing such kindness. I cannot express enough the Wonderful service we received at this hotel. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the service was outstanding!! The room was very clean and very quiet which is a blessing. The breakfast buffet was very good! Cheryl Mathis who was working the front desk that evening went beyond her normal duties & extended her assistance in helping me in any way she could with a very special belated birthday meal I was making for my son. She also assisted me with a small gathering I was hosting that weekend his belated bday, she also suggested great places to eat & even gave us a $20 coupon off our meal which always helps and we were so appreciative of her kind hospitality. Monique Barnes -am front desk also went out of her way to suggest different points of interest & gave me directions to local shopping malls & stores. This hotel was so convenient to everything! Only a few minutes away from the airport, Norfolk Naval Base, Downtown Norfolk, Virginia Beach, local shopping outlets etc. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Norfolk.
