We didn't plan to stay here, but got bumped from another Residence Inn on the day of our stay because they had over sold. Overall, we were short changed. The location isn't great, the rooms are in smaller buildings each with outside entrances, and parking was far from our building - all of which felt a little unsafe. The room smelt of litter box with a touch of ash tray. Everything was old and a little worn out. For some reason the fire alarm went off once at round 4am (apparently for no reason) which disturbed our sleep. All in all, not the greatest. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Reside at Residence Inn

My son and I stayed at this Residence Inn for the first time August 13-17, 2020. We stayed here b|c my son didn't like the Best Western due to the wet floors. I really liked this hotel simply because it's not designed like a regular hotel. It's designed like an apartment complex with each hotel room having their own individual entrance. The best part of the hotel room is that it's designed like an apartment. It has an actual kitchen with a regular refrigerator, dishwasher and a working stove with an oven. (In a subsequent visit, we brought groceries and cooked instead of constantly ordering out via DoorDash and UberEats) As you can see from the photos, our room was especially nice and accommodating. The room had a nice cozy layout. Our room had a Queen Bed and the sofa had a bed tucked inside. I also liked this Residence Inn because they had better cable than the Best Western (more children's channels). Our stay was uneventful that there were no constant or unnecessary intrusions. Staff were nice and friendly to us and available anytime we needed them. Check-out process was nice, easy and fast. Only pet peeve is the price gouging at the little "store" near the check-in desk (and that's with all hotels that have them) Would definitely stay here anytime I'm in Richmond, VA TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Very nice staff but property is in need of rennovation

We stayed two nights at the Marriott Residence Inn Richmond West End while house hunting in Chesterfield County. The staff is extremely accommodating, especially under COVID-19 circumstances, and the location is relatively convenient. The unit has great potential - two Queen size beds and two separate bathroom, which was perfect for our family. The property, however, is in dire need of upgrading and rennovation. The units are old, we had ants in the kitchen before we even unpacked a few food items (coffee and cookies), and a full rennovation is really what's needed. I doubt we'll stay there again, and perhaps move to a property further south tha's newer, more clean and up-to-date. Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
They're doing their best

Employees at this property are stellar and are doing their best with what they have to work with--which is an older Residence Inn with doors that open to the exterior and lots of weird, darker corners. The physical facility itself is not great. But the people are very good, from the front desk to the hospitality staff at a very good breakfast setup. The location is very convenient for University of Richmond visits. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Noisy and unclean older property

My husband and I traveled to Richmond for a basketball game at UR. We were staying one night at this property. I was very disappointed with this property that carries the "Marriott" name. This property is much older which is fine but I still expect cleanliness. When I walk into a hotel room I immediately start checking things. I pulled back the sheets and checked the pillow cases. There was make up/foundation stains on one of the pillows which meant in my mind...the entire bed was not changed. The headboard had stains and handprints all over it you could see it right away...gross. When I checked out the bathroom there was a used bar of soap sitting in the corner of the tub. In my mind, this equates to bathrooom hasn't been cleaned. If you're going to leave something that obvious you didn't clean the room. My husband went to the front desk and let me just say, they were very nice. The manager relocated us to a different room and it was a little better but I just felt creeped out all night. Very noisy..if you're looking for a peaceful night sleep, DO NOT get a room on the first floor. The people staying above us on the second floor had their kids running and screaming until 3:00 a.m. sounded like a herd of cows running around like banshees. Will most definitely NEVER stay at this hotel again and I do not recommend this property. I always stay at Marriott because I've always been happy with everything...this time was not the case. As soon as the sun came up I was ready to go home. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
