Girlfriend getaway

Feb 25th, 2021

We highly recommend the Riptide! No frills, but exactly the type of place I like when staying at the beach. Literally steps from the sand. We had room 23, with a full kitchen. Front door leads out to a cute courtyard and back door led right to our car! Ocean view from our room, everything was clean and just what we needed. To be honest, our original booking at Margaritaville had to be canceled due to date change (snow up north) and we actually think this worked better for us! I would advise requesting a room away from the tiki bar though as it is loud in that section. Masks were worn by all and safety protocols were in place. Will definitely book at the Riptide again! Riptide needs some serious help

Feb 22nd, 2021

Well, let's begin by stating the single good thing about Riptide, it is ocean front. Other than that it is pretty bad. It is very old and outdated. The locks on the doors are keyed, which I have not seen in a hotel in years and they do not work well at all. You will stand at your door and fiddle with the deadbolt lock for minutes until somehow something falls into place and the key turns the lock. The management's explanation was "well you just have to wiggle the key". The website states that housekeeping is available upon request. I requested it for 3 days and finally someone came and swept the floor and took out the trash, oh she did bring fresh towels. The rooms are run down, paint peeling, the bed was quite uncomfortable. The couch was stained and dirty. Our clothes smelled bad after having been in the closet and the drawers. In one area there is sort of a court yard with picnic tables and rusty outdoor grills. There was a planter box filled with dry dead plants and the brick paved floor always had trash scattered about. I definitely recommend staying clear of this joint. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Meh...

Feb 22nd, 2021

Very basic and outdated. Not very clean but it served the purpose. It's clear they are not putting a cent into this place and making all they can from it. Sofa bed mattress was filthy and disintegrating. There's a basic coffee maker but no coffee. Tiki bar was a bit too close to our room, room #1. A bit uneasy with lots of people right outside the door. But got used to it. Bathroom had small black flies that were breeding in there. We'd kill a dozen or so a day & always had a bunch more. Great location on the beach so we made the best of it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Old, Old, Motel

Feb 20th, 2021

Pros: Right on the boardwalk/ocean, has a tiki bar with awesome bartenders and some live entertainment that was very good. That is where it ends. Cons: The room was very old and smelled. A plug in that smelled like cherries was plugged in for obvious reasons. The paint in the bathroom was peeling off the wall and the door would not close. We were here for 7 days and never received any type of housekeeping services. We ran out of toilet paper and had to go to the office and ask for more. The sign in the bathroom stated that if we wanted clean towels, just leave the dirty ones on the floor. Good thing we didn't since we never received any type of housekeeping services. The place calls themselves a Hotel, they are nothing more than a very old beach Motel that needs some definite upgrades. Upon check out I noticed that we were charged a $105 resort fee. I questioned this and was told that it was for wifi and they used to offer beach chairs but discontinued this due to covid. So why did I still have to pay this? This trip was booked in a hurry and I didn't research other places like I should have. We loved Hollywood Beach and the Boardwalk and will definitely go back. However, for $224 per night plus resort fees, we will never go back to this Motel. There are much better places to stay and we can always walk to the Tiki bar. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful views

Feb 17th, 2021

A mother/ daughter trip to the beach. This location is great, views are great. The live music was great. The only complaint I would have is the bathroom is small and needs a towel bar but we made it work even with 5 ladies. We did have to ask for a broom too because of the sand. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
