Charming part of old Gatlinburg

Rocky Waters is part of old Gatlinburg and it is very special. It is NOT a name brand franchised national hotel brand and that is what gives this hotel it's character. The rooms are very nice and very clean. And the creekside view is fabulous! No other hotel in Gatlinburg gets you this close to mountain stream. We even saw a bald eagle perched in the trees across from our room. Another good thing about Rocky Waters is that it is on the strip in Gatlinburg and it is close enough to walk to the center of town, but yet far enough away as to not be bothered by all the noise from the pedestrians and traffic jams. Everything last detail was as good or better than expected. The only thing Rocky Waters overlooks is the water! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Awful just plain awful

This was/is by far the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in. From the trash strewn parking lot to the hod awful filthy bathroom...all I can say is RUN as fast as you can from this place. All I can say is I am so glad I travel with Clorox wipes and a can of Lysol spray. 1) The mold/mildew smell about knocked us over when we opened the door. 2) The bathroom was absolutely filthy...see pictures. There was mold around 1/2 of the tub, my husband cleaned out the hair from the drain and I took Q-Tips to the grab bar. 3) The sink was n entirely different monster....it would not drain...maintenance blamed it on past guests using it for chewing tobacco spit. **insert vomiting at this point**. So when it wound drain we were left with brown funk and little flying bugs that lived in the drain. They get your money all up front....refuse to refund it and you get screwed!!! I reported the mold & bug infestation to the Knox Co Health Department already. See pictures posted below TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well we used to stay there until this year we called down there to reserve a room and you guys don't do it no more so you lost our business I'm sorry that you guys have to be that way alright thank you very much TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Inexcusably Bad Management!

Firstly, Gatlinburg is a great, overpriced, gaudy, fun-filled place in which each visitor can find their own little niche. There are rides that zoom you across the face of mountains, slow gondola rides to the tops of mountains, amusements galore, and lots of places to eat. There is even a "hemp" store or two or three that market in certain weeds not for those under 21. There are also many places from motels to condominiums that you can rent. Secondly, the one place that I insistently recommend that you do NOT stay is the Rocky Waters Motor Inn located on Hemlock Street in Gatlinburg. The only thing I do recommend is that you gather some of the hemlock leaves to brew for yourself if you somehow make the tragic mistake of booking a room here. The negatives of the room: 1) towel rack in the bathroom was nearly ripped off the wall, 2) someone had kicked the back panel out of the clothing wardrobe cabinet, 3) the beds are so hard, they caused me shoulder pain, 4) the lighting/outlet fixture between the beds on the wall was ripped away from the wall (we were afraid to try and switch on the lights or plug any of our phone chargers into the outlets), 5) the toilet seat was dangerously loose to the point that you had to wrap your hand in toilet paper to hold it still while you tried to sit on it without falling, 6) the bathtub drain did not drain causing dirty water to collect in the tub, 7) we spent two nights in a row having to breathe cigarette smoke in our "Non-Smoking" room courtesy of our neighbors in the adjoining room even after complaining to the management, 8) the maids, because of the COVID-19 scamdemic, only cleaned every other day. However, they did not clean our room on the day after we arrived. They straightened it once, the day before we left on our four-night stay. They left us two sets of towels for three people and also took the partial and spare rolls of toilet paper leaving us with none. The positives of the room: 1) seeing it in my rear view mirror leaving Gatlinburg. I had to make several trips to the front desk to get towels, bath cloths, and toilet paper as well as report issues with the room. I reported these issues to the front desk clerk on Friday morning. He assured me that the problems would be handled. We came back Friday evening and nothing had been done. We called the front desk and the clerk told us that maintenance had reported to him that everything was repaired. This was the first night we had to deal with the cigarette smoke, so we reported that. The clerk said he would handle it. He went to our room and confirmed that there was indeed cigarette smoke emanating from the adjoining room. He told me that the repairs would be dealt with the first thing in the morning. The desk clerk said that he was going immediately to the next room and would "have a little talk" with our neighbors about the smoking issue. We left on Saturday morning with assurances that everything would be handled. Got back Saturday night and still nothing was repaired and the room, once again, reeked of cigarette smoke. This was the second night that my daughter, who has asthma, had to suffer with breathing distress. We attempted to contact the front desk, but it was closed due to the COVID-19. First thing Sunday morning, I went down to the front desk and asked why the repairs were not done and wanted to know why my room still smelled of cigarette smoke. I informed the clerk that if something wasn't immediately done, that I was going to call my attorney and sue the motel down to its foundation. The clerk once again told me that the maintenance crew had assured him for a second time that the repairs were done. He called his Manager who came and brought the Assistant Manager. I demanded a refund from the Manager. He told me that due to corporate rules, he could only give me cost of the cheapest night back. I told him that I would be calling my attorney about the situation and that they could expect legal action. The Assistant Manager accompanied me back to the room ostensibly to document the damages. He told me on the way to the room that the smoking violators had been fined and they had already left the premises. He assured me that the repairs would be handled while we were out for the day. He also offered to switch us to a new room, but we declined because we were leaving the next morning and did not want to have to pack up everything and unpack and then pack again. We arrived back Sunday afternoon and no repairs were done for the third day in a row. I have been to many bad motels, but this one is the absolute worst I have ever seen. The sad thing about all this is that we had a wonderful time in Gatlinburg and did so many great things. I just wish that the motel had been a part of that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had a clean room with great service. It is in good location. The best part was balcony overlooking creek. We actually saw a variety of wildlife this visit.There was groundhog, birds, geese, heron, bear and lots of little fish. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
