Our family was cruising out of the Port of Miami so we decided to spend a couple of days in South Beach before we left. We got a great deal on the room during their Black Friday Sale and booked multiple (4) rooms. When we arrived we were greeted by a wonderful receptionist who supplied us with 15% off coupons for the restaurant. Our rooms were clean and ready to go and were appointed as typical with boutique hotels. We went to attached restaurant for dinner and drinks.... mostly because it was late and convenient...but BE WARY!! The food was great but they try and overcharge for EVERYTHING!! After the fact I looked them up on Tripadvisor and the reviews were pretty spot on!! The location is great!! Virtually across the street from the beach and a short walk to the heart of South Beach and all the must see hot spots. The pool is nothing but a glorified hot tub. Its perfect if you just want to catch some sun and relax....my wife and I had it to ourselves most of the time we were there. As soon as someone else showed up we just crossed the street to the beach. Overall it was an OK stay and I would consider staying there again if I could get a great deal again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel is ok but watch for fraudulent hotel charges

Jul 8th, 2019

We stayed here for 1 day, went to Key West for 2 days and came back to this hotel for another 2 days. For both visits the hotel charged my credit card fraudulently. The first visit they charged my card for $20 resort fee which was already paid. They refunded my card. The next stay they charged my card for snacks in the room. We didn't touch their snacks in fact we noticed on arrival that the packages looked very old and made a mental note to avoid them so that we don't end up sick on vacation. Currently waiting for another refund but can't believe that they would do this twice. It makes it seem like they do this to everyone so please watch your credit card and make sure the hotel isn't placing erroneous charges. Also avoid charging anything to the room so that they don't over charge or place fraudulent charges. Use cash if possible. Good luck! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Some highs and some lows

Jul 3rd, 2019

First, this hotel is in the heart of South Beach. You can walk to the beach and restaurants. First: Pros - location, location, location great customer service great look Cons - $35 a day to park plus tax Expensive drinks - $50 for a Cape Codder and a Bourbon Supposed be "free breakfast" but was charged $30 a day - got reversed They charge $16 a day "resort" fee Toilet location When we got to the hotel for my husband's birthday weekend, we could not check in early and even had to wait about 15 minutes after check in - no big deal. We were greeted with 2 glasses of Proseco and they even sent a bottle up to our room. The lobby is very attractive. There is a nice bar and plenty to seating. Our room was on the 4th floor - if we waited another 45 minutes, we could of had a suite but decided not to. Our room, the air conditioning did not seem very cold. There is very little furniture in the room. There is a closet with a safe and 3 drawers. Plenty of hangers and a light. The room itself had a comfortable king size bed, an ottoman at the end of the bed, 2 night stands with no drawers, a desk with a chair, and a luggage rack. We think it could have used a dresser. There was an in room coffee maker, but the cleaning service forgot to leave cream and sugar packets. The bathroom is where the real problem lies and why I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. There is a nice shower with a rain shower head. A nice sink. The toilet was between the door and the sink and there is just enough room to sit down. We are a bit more than average in size but not big. Our thighs hit the sink and the wall when we sat and you had to get the toilet paper ready ahead of time or you could not reach it. I bumped my elbow more than a few times. The phone did not work and when we mentioned it, they said that they knew and had been having a problem. They serve a European continental breakfast: coffee, juices, water, a hot dish, cereal, fruit, etc. It was supposed to be free but my husband was a $30 charge for 3 days - we arrived Friday at 3 and left Sunday before 9 - so $90 that we had to call and get reversed. The hotel advertises a pool, but it is really a hot tub. Comfortable. No towels - you have to ask for them at the front desk. Nice hotel, but, not a good value for what you get. Great Spot!

What a great hotel! I was in Miami Beach overnight and didn't really have a plan on what I was going to do with my one day in town. Staying at the Lord Balfour was the perfect place- close to the beach and an easy walk to a few things I wanted to see. The staff were helpful & friendly. The room beautiful & spotless. I loved the unique vibe of a the room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
