Bermuda / Rosewood

Jul 16th, 2019

Dissatisfied with the amount of money charged and what we received In return. Check-in was at 3 o'clock but rooms not ready till until four. Second-day tour guide scheduled for noon but did not find out he canceled until we went down to wait for his arrival. Third-day fishing trip schedule but was canceled by the guide because the hotel would not respond about getting him the credit card authorization form back in a timely matter. Check out day I spent the entire morning getting them to reduce the bill because of an overcharge of more than 3,000. They agreed in the end and corrected their mistake. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

2...3... or 4 stars?

This was supposed to be a anniversary trip with great diving.... it didn't turn out that way! First, let me reiterate that this is a gorgeous property and if you are into golf, tennis, and/or have kids, you are going to love this place, however we dont play golf or tennis. This trip started out in late April where we were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary, I like to go scuba diving at least once a year, so my wife presented different options to be Bermuda, St. Barts and several place. I chose Rosewood because they had dive center right on premise and it had awesome reviews from advanced divers. During May my wife tried to get information about the schedules for yoga, diving etc. so we could plan our days... no response from Rosewood, finally she contacted Rosewood HQ and got a response from Katy (who was awesome). Apparently the dive center had closed - yet the marketing for the center was still up there on their website, and we later found out that it had been closed since December. What we also found out was that Rosewood had been acquired by another company (Rosewood still manages), and they cancelled the contract with the excellent dive center that had been there for year, likely because of cost. Katy explained that while the center was currently closed, the acquiring company was negotiating to have a new company do the dive center and that it would be operational in June, so not to worry, I could have dive trips right from the rosewood in the morning, return around lunch and spend time with my wife. She also upgraded our room (which was very nice) and promised to make some special arrangements for our anniversary (and that never happened, nothing special was done). At that time, Rosewood still promoted diving from the old company on their website... 6 months after it was closed. Shortly before our trip in late June, we connected with Katy again. It turns out that the company that was selected didnt do diving, apparently they were a "Banana boat and Seadoo rental)" company, had no diving experience. Katy then explained that Rosewood would make any effort to provide diving at another resort a short cab ride away, they resort (Grotto) had great review, but now it mean that I had to spend a lot of time going back and fort. Because we didnt have options, we decided to stay with Rosewood... we had the room upgrade and the extra special attention (which never happened). Now, when we arrive, nobody at Rosewood made a personal attempt to explain that they were aware of our situation (I am certain that Katy had informed them). We did get our room upgrade (nice), but no arrangement had been made with the dive center at grotto (which is likely my mistake, I should have pursued this myself). So, the result was that no diving was available (two tank dives) in the mornings we were there and only single tank dive in the afternoon, which are usually designed more for beginners. So, I had a beautiful but very boring dive the first afternoon and decided not to do the next day at it would be the same. Btw... nobody seemed to be aware to pay for the transport and I ended up paying myself because they weren't there for my return. No special attention for our anniversary, no special dinner, no yoga on the pink beach which was promised (and advertised on the website) to my wife. Also, the dive center does not open before 10AM, so you can't even go for a kayak in the morning (when it is not very hot), and I recommend going to the private beach very early, every parasol was taken whenever we went later in the day. Also, be aware that while we had Breakfast included (Breakfast was decent) they charged for service charges and all sorts of extra charges, some which people there couldn't really explain and removed, but only after pointed out. That being said, the concierge(s) were very accommodating for arranging dinners and other activities (we rented our our own boat for an afternoon) etc. and it is a amazing property. However, I believe the acquisition had reduced the overall quality of the place and their marketing of the property was directly misleading and knowingly so. Would we do back? To Bermuda yes, wonderful place and we would stay at The Loren (which my wife wanted, but it didnt have diving on premise).. .but not to Rosewood. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Location

Jul 13th, 2019

My wife and I spent 7 nights in a Luxury Oceanview King Room, a very spacious room with large freestanding bath, separate toilet, separate shower and Jack & Jill vanity area with Estée Lauder toiletries. Customer service is excellent and all staff are friendly and helpful. A quarter hourly shuttle bus service is available to take you to the beach. We ate in all 3 on-site restaurants. All produced well-presented and delicious food. This is an expensive resort (but that's Bermuda!) - a freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast will set you back $12 before gratuities etc and if you share a plate at the beach bar at lunch time, expect to be charged an additional $7. There are a couple of other restaurants nearby, but be prepared to add $30 in taxi fares to your dinner bill. Overall, a beautiful property to which we would return and which we highly recommend if you plan a trip to Bermuda. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Luxurious hotel!

Jul 11th, 2019

The hotel itself is very luxurious. Truly beautiful. The beach is a shuttle ride away which can be a bit inconvenient if you need to run back to your room etc...but the beach is stunning. Beautiful sand and crystal clear water. We did have some service issues but they were eventually handled. Food was on the pricey side but I feel that’s the norm for Bermuda since almost everything is imported. I would love to return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Paradise in the Atlantic

Jul 8th, 2019

From the minute we arrived from the airport (which is only 15 minutes away), I knew I was going to like it there. We were greeted with open arms by a friendly, professional staff, some in Bermuda shorts, might I add. After the quick, effortless check-in, we were escorted to our ROOM WITH A VIEW like I’ve never had before! We spent almost every day at the amazing Rosewood’s Tucker’s Point Beach Club, which was a five minute shuttle ride from the hotel. But, don’t let that discourage you from going, it’s half the fun! By after the first day, we knew almost everyone there by first name and the driver’s names too. It’s a very friendly place, with the most amazing food and variety I’ve ever experienced consistently at any resort. We are dreaming of going back—soon! It is a lovely place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
