By far the nicest MOTEL in CA.
Jan 15th, 2020
Arrived after 9pm. Was assigned a room at the back of the property, requiring we drive around back, park, and find the room. Many, many vacant rooms more conveniently located were unoccupied. Signs identifying buildings are not illuminated at night, and one of the pathway signs for building 17 is incorrect. Because of that, we dragged luggage across wet grass and mud before finding our room. Accomodations were very nice, but the property is actually a MOTEL not a 5-star hotel, although the pricing doesn't reflect that. Breakfast was good but our server disappeared for 15 minutes when we needed the check to depart to catch a flight. We just told the hostess to have the server add 20% and close us out. Two small things to improve in rooms, the night light under the vanity in the bathroom is too bright, and the hair dryer doesn't move enough air. Lastly, my wife wanted a glass of wine from the minibar, but saw the pricing for a half-bottle of chardonnay was $70. That made us both losers since we couldn't justify that, and the hotel missed a sale. We understand the convenience premium for minibar items, but $70 for a half bottle of mediocre chardonnary is more than excessive. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A wonderful stay -- an amazing room with a warm welcome, comfortable surroundings with every detail not overlooked in the room, stellar service with each encounter and amazing food. Would definitely want to return for longer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
It’s the small touches that warm the heart

Stayed here over the weekend on my business trip. The bungalow rooms were large and spacious, with a nice deck where one could enjoy being out in the open. The bathroom was large and luxurious, certainly keeping with the resort-style feel of the place. Service from hotel staff was friendly and warm, beginning from check-in. Susan the concierge was extremely helpful when we needed tips for a nearby hiking excursion. But it’s the little things that matter most. Y housekeeper saw that I had camera equipment so she left me a lens cloth next to them. Opening the drawer in the bathroom also reveals a clear plastic bag for liquids meant to pass TSA inspection. The one let down during our stay was dining. The Michelin 1 star Madera came a little short, and some dishes left us scratching our heads. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing property with great staff and amenities. From the friendly smiles when we arrived to the great restaurant and spa. I would recommend The Rosewood Sandhill to anyone looking for a first class stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Incredible Hotel! Amazing Staff!

We have vacationed at many luxury hotels worldwide, but our stay this week at the Rosewood Sand Hill has been truly outstanding. A beautiful hotel, magnificent amenities. But what sets this hotel apart and truly changed our stay here is the incredible staff at Rosewood Sand Hill. Everyone that is a part of this resort exudes a genuine warmth and desire to make your visit special, and from the moment we arrived no request or task was too big or too small for the concierge or the front desk. Their hospitality and desire to make sure our every need was met were unparalleled. We were made to feel comfortable and at home at every turn. The Madera restaurant and the bar/lounge staff were incredible to the friends that visited and ate with us daily; and our friends were impressed with the service and how accommodating the hotel staff were. A special shout-out to both Alice Langhard Lovstedt and Crystal Lau, front office managers, who made our stay so wonderful, so memorable, embraced our family and made us feel so at home. Thank you for making our vacay truly special. We can’t wait to come back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
