Fabulous hotel

May 16th, 2019

Having visited Bath and walked past this hotel on numerous occasions, we decided to push the boat out and book a room for a couple of nights. It was nothing short of amazing. When we drove up and got out of the car, the door man approached us, he was friendly and professional and already knew who we were - he may have had a list of number plates but nevertheless we were impressed and that very high standard of customer service was evident throughout our stay. From the General Manager who came up and introduced himself to us, the superb waiters, friendly reception staff through to the very accommodating chamber maid, the customer service was a delight to be on the receiving end of and was second to none. The accommodation was quirky and rather lovely. We ate from the fine dining menu which was incredible. We chose and paid for two courses but ended up having four with all the little extra treats (no charge on bill) produced by the chef. Handmade chocolates were produced at the end of the meal but we could not eat them so they were boxed up for us to enjoy later. It is well worth spending time sitting in the acre of hotel garden, there are many trees and so lots of birdsong which was really lovely. If you like period architecture and tasteful English classical decor then you'll love this hotel. It is traditional but not old fashioned, there are contemporary touches keeping it well & truly in the 21st century while retaining an English country house feel. As for cost, while it's not cheap the price is comparable with other high end hotels in Bath, whilst in our experience the "experience" is so much more. It would be easy to get through a four digit amount in a couple of days but we kept ours far under this as we booked early and direct with the hotel, giving us a special room rate with breakfast and parking included. The a la carte two courses in the Dower House Restaurant were £50/head but the restaurant also offers casual dining in the same restaurant at less £. Cannot comment on the spa facilities as we did not try them. Our stay was fabulous and it was like experiencing a different world. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend. Great hotel!

May 7th, 2019

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Royal Crescent, we being a mid fifties couple and our 23 year old daughter. The location is obviously ideal and as lovely as it’s reputation. We were able to walk into Bath for meals, a bespoke tour, and being adjacent to Victoria Park makes exercise and strolling easy and pleasant. The only snafu was the WiFi in our rooms was non existent during our entire stay and they could not get it sorted out. As we were on a US limited data plan, this was a bit of an inconvenience (we were able to use the WiFi if we walked to the main building/reception area), some might have been more worked up about it but since I had no business to do it was really just a bother. The rooms were quite nice, bathroom not surprisingly a bit tight but all was very luxurious and proper. We did not eat at the acclaimed restaurant there but we did enjoy a very nice afternoon tea there with all the accoutrements (scones, finger sandwiches, petit fours) and a wide selection of teas. I used the exercise facilities both days, adequate but not exceptional. The staff were quite helpful and friendly. The historic building is the highlight, however, and it never failed to give us a thrill when we walked up the hill to the beautiful lawn and the incredible building! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another wonderful experience

Another wonderful experience at the RCH. Stepping through the door is like stepping into another (better) world. The staff were warm and attentive, providing the level of service you would expect from a hotel of this calibre, whilst being genuinely unstuffy and interested in their guests. Our room was beyond all expectations, with stunning views of the gardens. An ideal stay. I can't wait to visit again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
