Trip to conference

Apr 26th, 2018

It was the cheapest hotel we can found where is closer to the conference.. We are pleasure staying there because the price is much cheaper yet it is a nice and simple hotel. It is very old building but bed is all good! Three ladies (in our 40 - 50's) were happy staying there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OK for an overnight stay

Nov 15th, 2017

We arrived very late, called a couple of times to ensure they didn’t give away our room. It was close to the train station so that worked well for us. The cab company that they recommended ripped us off, told us when we got to our destination that he had no change so we paid more than triple for a $6 fare. The front desk people weren’t very helpful with suggestions on things to do, places to eat in the area, just told us all the info they had was in their brochure stand which didn’t have any info on restaurants, places to eat etc. The door to the building was supposed to be a card entry but it was broken. The free breakfast was good but the state of the area was appalling, some people had let their kids throw cereal all over the floor, they asked not to take food out of the dining area but people came in & overloaded plates and left. We didn't drive but seemed to be plenty of parking. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Visitor to Salt Lake Ciy

Nov 12th, 2017

The location of the hotel to the downtown Salt Lake City central business district and associated tourist attractions such as the Mormon Tabernacle, Cathedral and Visitors Information Center, etc : as well as public transport options make it an ideal place to stay. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful and assisted us in every way. The rooms are very competitively priced. A complementary in house serve yourself continental breakfast is available. However, although the rooms are comfortable, they are in dire need of refurbishing, and some of the furnishings could do with being replaced, or at least, heavy duty steam cleaning ! The general appearance is of a very tired decor very much in need of a serious clean up. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Murder Room

Oct 13th, 2017

Before I even start, I want you to know that i am not a hotel snob, I require the basics and that's about it. This was the nastiest place i've ever stayed. Upon arrival, the hotel staff was super unfriendly, then when we got the keys to go to our room, we find that the lights don't work in the bathroom and the phone to call the reception doesn't work because the electrical outlet is about to fall out of the wall. We needed to return our rental car so I asked the staff about how we could get back to the hotel. She instructed us to get a shuttle to the airport where we would find a shuttle back to the hotel. We found the shuttle at the airport, got in the van, and were promptly told that we had to make a reservation for the shuttle. I told the lady that the hotel staff directed me to get in the shuttle and she responded that the staff at that hotel were frequently misinformed. After waiting and returning to the hotel, we go back in our room to find the floor is stained in multiple spots with fresh blood. Piles of blood, not just speckles. Like someone had been stabbed. There was blood on the bathroom door, also. We looked up murders that have happened and found that there were several murders in the last few months at this place. Please don't stay here if you care about not catching a disease. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good Place, but the staff needs 'refinement'

Oct 3rd, 2017

I stayed here from September 26th to October 3 and I have to say that the room itself was decent with good bed and bath facilities. I just wish that the TV would have had more channels, including one that I could watch General Conference on. The staff was decent at check-in, but some of the desk staff do get moody at times. I also discovered that the nearest TRAX station was not as close as advertised, which meant I had to take taxis to the station and that was annoying. On the Saturday night of my stay, I got a nasty call from the front desk that 3 people had called and complained about noise I had made in the afternoon even though I was quietly watching General Conference. When I tried to say it wasn't me, the front desk person on the phone said, "Are you calling me a liar, b****?" and slammed the phone down. I was so shocked and angry about the false accusation that I marched down to the front desk and set them straight while crying. The person offered a half-hearted apology, but that was it; it was the people next to me making the noise and I told them that, but nothing was done about it. I think the day staff need additional training in how to treat customers and how to check into the accuracy of information given before phoning guests and making accusations without giving guests a chance to explain or defend themselves. It was an okay place to stay, but the staff needs some refinement. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
