Bad experience at Zen sushi restaurant

Dec 14th, 2019

Don’t usually write reviews but thought I would on this one. My daughter and I are staying at resort next door Grand Memories Splash and decided to pay more to eat at Zen sushi restaurant next door where they cook food in front of you. While watching I thought chicken was not on grill every long before being put on plates. I ate it hesitantly and seemed chewy. Next morning daughter and I both woke up feeling sick diarrahea all day. Disappointed pay good money to come here and have a whole day in room wasted. Anthony. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Resort

Dec 14th, 2019

We just returned from this resort. Our reason for going was for a wedding which was absolutely beautiful!!! Check in and check out was extremely easy and the staff was very friendly. Our favorite place to eat was at Hunter's. I need to give a shoutout to our butler Nazario. We went 4 years ago and had him so we requested him again this time around hoping he was still there. With our luck he was there that first day and took great care of us all week. Our kids were very happy to see him again!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Royalton Fit

Dec 13th, 2019

Royalton Fit is an excellent program at the resort. There are many classes offered throughout the day (yoga, bootcamp, boxing...) to motivate you to keep fit even on vacation. My boyfriend, his parents, and I took many of the classes while staying at the Royalton Hideaway for a week, and each one was exceptional. Michael and Yordany were awesome! Thanks for making the classes both fun and challenging TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great service!

Dec 13th, 2019

We spend a week in early December at Royalton Hideaway section. Overall it is a clean resort with well kept grounds, but rooms are a little on a “tired” side. The service at the hotel on the other hand is phenomenal! Thank you Leonela at the Hideaway beach bar for making fantastic drinks for us. Big shoutout to Fransisco who made sure we were comfortable and had towels at the beach section. The service at the main buffet and all the restaurants we amazing as well. Also, we would like to thank Estela who did a great job cleaning our room. Big thank you to all the ladies at the Hideaway resection aria! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Expected better

Dec 13th, 2019

Just returned home after a ten day break with my wife and six friends. This was my third visit to this hotel the previous two occasions it was just my wife and myself. I had written to the reservations manager prior to our visit to request the same room or similar to our last visit, in which we had an ocean view and overlooking the pool area. We were surprised therefore to find ourselves with a ground floor room that backed onto a service road with a very small terrace. My travelling companions were allocated rooms on the opposite side of the hotel, some in rooms with pool views and others like my own overlooking service roads. On arrival we were told that we had a complimentary upgrade and were all allocated Diamond Club wristbands. It transpired that our enthusiasm and excitement was short lived as we were told on more than one occasion during our stay that we were not entitled to use the Diamond Club facilities. A devious con! The explanation given was that this was a “promotion” I gave up asking the for further explanations as answers created more confusion. The hotel in my opinion is getting a bit tired and rooms and facilities do need a refresh. Furniture in bedrooms in particular need upgrading On the food and beverage side the systems had changed since our last visit, for the better. The only restaurant that required a booking was the Sushi bar and Teppanyaki. All the other restaurants had a first come first served basis. I don’t think the hotel was full as our group of eight were always adequately serviced. All the food was well prepared and always lots of choice. The coffee shop was a welcome venue for early morning meets with our friends Staff as always are always smiling and willing to help. Swimming pools always clean and twice weekly foam party was a hit. Public areas and gardens were well tended although not too many Christmas decorations. Overall it was a good holiday venue but the need for room upgrading and my room allocation issue means that it might be some time before I return TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
