Not A Great Honeymoon Choice

Jul 6th, 2020

My husband and I had gone to several hotels on our 2 weeks long honeymoon to be able to try out a couple we had wanted to go to. We originally had wanted to stay at the Plymouth (The South Beach Sister Hotel), but it was to remain closed due to the pandemic during our stay. We were offered to cancel our reservation or to switch to this sister hotel. I had heard such great things about Plymouth that I thought, why not stay at the sister hotel? Well, I really wish I had canceled the reservation. First of all, this is not necessary but we had received better upstanding treatment at our other hotels while on our honeymoon and received upgrades, which we did not get at all at this hotel. Not super important, but something to note if you plan on possibly coming here for your honeymoon. This hotel was old and didn’t have very much to offer partially due to the pandemic, but maybe just in general as well. I wasn’t impressed that we either had to go around the front of the building to a separate building or through what looked like a back alley to get to the lobby to check-in. It wasn’t super clear and it seemed like this hotel was clinging onto the much nicer Boucher Brothers hotel chain. The small “living area” of the South Beach Hotel smelled musty and there was a huge leak in the ceiling that was dripping all over the floor which created a puddle. They didn’t fix this the whole 4 days we were there, and I’ve included photos below. The hallways were poorly lit and the floors creaked. The rooms were nicer, but when I went to put on a bathrobe, there was a wad of hair in it! Gross! I don’t want to see that at a hotel, but definitely not during a pandemic! I will not being staying here again as I was not impressed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This hotel is the worst I ever seen. Mold an roaches every where. The rooms are old and not clean. At The end of our stay, they over charges for things we never used or order. Do your self a favor and don't stay at this hotel!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Spanish, ANYONE???

Mar 19th, 2020

Boy, I am glad I took Spanish in school... EVERYONE here speaks it, if you dont, well good luck with the 'English' they speak here. Sad, cause that literally translated or better mistranslated as room 201 being ready as opposed as NOT ready. We walked in and sure enough, the room was not ready...we had to drag our luggage across the building and then we found out that there is a bell boy available (obviously we had to ask for it???). Breakfast is falsely advertised as continental which is true, but NOT on location!! Other than that, location is ok, decent, clean and 2 blocks away from the beach. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Won't be coming back

Mar 16th, 2020

I've stayed here many times before but this time my room smelled when I turned the heater on and the woman at breakfast was VERY RUDE. I paid $350 for a night and she wouldn't give me breakfast for 2 (as stated on the reservation), only gave it for 1. Ridiculous. You can also hear all of your neighbors and Miami is a party spot so this was a bit annoying TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
