Overview

Tennis enthusiasts will love property's 45 tennis courts, while golfers will enjoy resort's two golf courses and training facility
Some say rooms here look a little tired
Travelers looking to flex some tennis muscle or perfect golf skills should head to the Saddlebrook Resort Tampa. Located just 32 miles northeast of the Tampa International Airport and 21 miles northeast of Busch Gardens, the Saddlebrook Resort offers a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area and Tampa's theme parks. But there's plenty to do here. The resort features a whopping 45 tennis courts and two 18-hole golf courses, as well as a 16-acre golf training center. Meanwhile, the 7,000-square-foot Spa at Saddlebrook boasts rejuvenating spa treatments, such as deep tissue massages, to ease sore muscles after a long day of exercise. And while parents play and relax, kids can keep busy in the S'Kids Club. But in spite of the abundance of physical activities, guests lament the limited dining options available on-site. Recent visitors also said the guest rooms could benefit from a facelift; still, accommodations come equipped with 220-threat-count Egyptian cotton linens, marble bathrooms, private patios or balconies and 42-inch flat-screen TVs.

If you can't get enough golf and tennis, here's your fix. Situated about a half-hour north of downtown Tampa, Saddlebrook is one of west Florida's top resorts, largely because it has so many things in one spot – 36 holes of championship golf; the Saddlebrook Golf Academy; 45 clay, grass, and artificial-surface tennis courts; a Harry Hopman tennis program; a full-service spa; a fitness center; and a kids' club.
