Would not stay here again

Feb 23rd, 2020

Pro : hotel location Cons : room looks dated, not very helpful front desk staff and quite a rude hotel manager. I accidentally left personal items in the room. When asking help from the hotel manager to retrieve these, he claimed i was lying. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exquisitely Regal in Central Paris

Jan 22nd, 2020

This is a delightful hotel in central Paris, full of elegant charm and serene character. I stayed here for one night in mid June as a stop over between Barcelona and The Hague (train from Barcelona to Paris and then to the Hague via Brussels Midi the next day), mainly to catch up with a friend who lives locally (just across the road). With its rich bright tapestries, renaissance art works (paintings, vases and sculpture), Louis XVI and Regency furnishings and individually designed rooms, I felt as if I was staying in a small palace, an exquisitely regal find in central Paris. My room was charming with its exposed timber ceiling beams, it provided a medieval ambience combined with the comforts of contemporary living - a fine double bed, high pressure shower and air conditioning (which was needed given that there was a heat wave in Paris at the time of my overnight stay). The staff were wonderful, particularly Carlos on reception and his welcoming and professional colleagues in the dining room who provided the most delicious breakfast. I could have stayed there all morning. I had a problem with a potential double charge on my credit card the next day due to withdrawing my AMEX too quickly from the merchant terminal. Carlos was so kind and emailed immediately after I checked out to reassure me that there had been no double charge and only one transaction had been posted. It is that level of service that would make me return and stay again. The hotel is on the slightly expensive side, but Paris is costly. I suppose I noticed this because I was travelling all over Europe using the same Euro currency and noticed major variations in hotel and accomodation costs between countries, but I still feel as if this hotel represents good value. I definitely recommend Hotel Saint Germain des Pres, and would have been happy to stay for much longer than one night - two or three weeks would be ideal! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unique, Authentic and Peacefully Quiet

Jan 7th, 2020

The hotel Saint Germain des Prés is authentic and is situated in a surprisingly quiet neighborhood close to the Seine and the Île de Cité. The rooms have the original features like old tapestry, headboard and taps but don’t miss out on modern amenities like flat screen tv and water cooker with tea and coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not included but well worth the 12 €. We can highly recommend this hotel and would love stay there again. This little jewel of a hotel is Parisian perfection!

Oct 30th, 2019

I just adore this hotel! I have stayed there several times over the years and will continue to do so. The staff are so kind and treat their guests like family (in the good way). I love the neighbourhood (Latin Quarter, Saint-German-des-Pres) and easy access to all of Paris. The guests are an interesting mix of well traveled folks from France, North America, Asia, and all over the world. Additional benefits are the good breakfasts and quiet rooms. This jewel of a hotel has become my Parisian pied-a-terre. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
