660% mark up on a bottle of wine- Rip Off

Dec 14th, 2019

My wife and i ordered through room service a bottle of Bancott Sauvingnon Blanc. The charge was $55. This bottle sells for $8.95 at Total Wine. That's a 550% mark up. Not exactly customer friendly. What is worse i then got hit with a 20% IRD Service Charge for $11 which is a built in gratuity (which i did not authorize or sign for)I then had to pay a 9.25% tax on my $66 purchase. So now the mark up was 660% before paying tax. I called the hotel asking for a explanation about this 20% IRD tax and the employee could not explain what it stood for but that it was gratuity and tax. Double taxed , what a joke. Slow , slow , slow elevators. Awful instant coffee in the room. No free fresh coffee in the lobby but they did direct me to the closest Starbucks. Gee , thanks. We do not plan to stay here again. What Line? Super fast and accommodating!

Dec 7th, 2019

I need a spot close to an dinner party I was attending. Found a nice deal for this hotel. Before I made the commitment, I researched the reviews and it seemed as if one of the major complaints was the amount of time it took to check in. Also, check in is at 4pm. An hour later than others. I had plenty of free time but I hope to arrive early and hopefully check in at 4pm and not too much later afterwards. Well, to my surprise, as I walked into the front lobby, I was greeted, checked in early, and in my room in less that 5 minutes. The room was very clean with a great view. Great Staff, easy check in, clean room. I'm satisfied! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Thanksgiving Stay

Dec 3rd, 2019

We had booked last minute for our Thanksgiving stay here and it did not disappoint. The woman who checked us in(Zandy) was very nice, acknowledged our platinum status with a suite upgrade(woohoo!), and gave us break vouchers/F&B credit bc the lounge was closed. She was awesome and so sweet! Room had an amazing view of downtown San Jose, along with the expansive mountains. We enjoyed the hot tub, pool, and freshly renovated gym(Peloton bikes!? So exciting!) Definitely would stay again and encourage others to as well! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Comfortable, Great Location, Use Convention Parking

Nov 22nd, 2019

The Marriott in San Jose is connected to the convention centre and hence mostly a corporate style hotel. It has a nice big ballroom itself as well. Rooms are up to date and VERY comfortable. Pleasant small pool and jacuzzi outside and big gym inside. Convention parking is only 20 dollar per day and essentially the same as the Marriott parking. There is also a large gift and convenience store. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not impressed

Nov 21st, 2019

Location is the best thing about this hotel. I didn’t think there was anything special about my experience here. The room itself was average and housekeeping could have done a better job at cleaning. Upon checking in, it appeared that some of the pillows had dirty pillow cases. Also, there was a black thing on the bathroom floor for 3 days before housekeeping decided to pick it up. The complimentary lotion in the bathroom had been used prior to my arrival and it was almost empty. At that point, I threw all the complimentary items in the trash so that I could get fresh ones the next day. My telephone didn’t work in my room, so I had to go downstairs to request a taxi and I couldn’t order room service or anything (really inconvenient). The event I attended was catered by the Marriott and the food was average/borderline below average tasting. There’s a shop in the hotel which is extremely overpriced. I paid over $20 for two packs of Wet Ones and a tiny Lysol spray. This hotel is also home to the Tanq Bar and some random restaurant which has no name advertised. I decided to eat there on my last night and had to ask the waiter for the name. He hesitated before saying Market Street. That restaurant is not up to par so I would avoid if possible.
