Overview

Hotel offers a relaxed atmosphere within walking distance of many of the area's top attractions
Suites here could use a refresh and lack ocean views

This hotel isn't located on busy Collins Avenue or Ocean Drive (perhaps that's why they named it "Sanctuary"), but guests still feel like they're in the thick of things here. For example, Collins Avenue is just around the corner, and the Lincoln Road Mall is about a half-mile away. Recent guests said it's the Sanctuary South Beach's semi-remote location that creates such a relaxing vibe. The decor may also contribute to the overall Zen atmosphere: Suites are outfitted with Miami Beach's signature stark white and accented with small splashes of vibrant colors. Aesthetics aside, suites also include marble countertops and rainforest showerheads. Some guests, however, felt their rooms were dated and needed a bit of dusting. Keep in mind that the hotel's James Avenue location also means that there are no oceanview suites. However, there is an on-site restaurant, Ola, which serves Caribbean-Latin American fusion cuisine.

A tasty little 30-room property that bills itself as South Beach's first female-friendly hotel, offering a year-round 25-percent discount for women traveling alone as well as more creative services such as cabana boys at the rooftop pool (specialty: suntan lotion application), and jogging and yoga companions. ... The Zen-inspired suites offer all the comforts of home and then some: marble-countertop kitchens, 42-inch flat-screen plasma TV’s, and steam showers or jetted Jacuzzi tubs in the bathrooms.
