Beauty and Kindness

Jun 16th, 2019

This island is absolutely stunning, has so much history to it, and has some of the kindest people I have ever gotten the chance to meet. There was not one person working that was ever in a bad mood and they always knew how to make everyone laugh. The resort had so many good food options it was so hard to pick! Definitely will be going back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Honeymoon!

Jun 16th, 2019

Wow! This place blew me away. This was our second all inclusive this year. We went to the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Mexico in May and it was great, but sandals Barbados blew us away! From the food, the drinks, the scenery and the service everything blew us away! All of the staff and the majority of the guests were so friendly! You could strike up a conversation with anyone. All of the food was to die for, especially the sushi and food at butches steakhouse. The filet and lobster tail were some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Plus as an added bonus you get access to the royal Barbados side which we took full advantage of. Lovers lane and the bowling alley and bartenders there were a blast! We also left the resort and did some exploring and the island is so safe. No one bothers you but the taxi drivers, all of the locals were so helpful getting places and it’s a beautiful island. My wife and I will definitely be returning here very soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay And Great People

Jun 16th, 2019

Service, Service, Service. All I read prior to coming was about how this resort didn’t have the same level of service as others. The people weren’t as nice, etc. Those reviews were 100% opposite of what we experienced. We didn’t ask our Butlers Stephen and Ryan for hardly anything. We actually told them that we aren’t the type of couple that enjoys somebody waiting on us and if they could just help us with our reservations and other bookings we would be good to go. Stephen and Ryan went out of their way to check on us. I talked with Stephen almost every morning to see where he had us set up for the day by the Royal beachside pool. They always stopped by to check in, surprise us with a drink, or just ask if we needed something. Several times we would come back from dinner to find a hot bath waiting and our bed made up. I guess what blew us away was we didn’t expect these guys to do what they did, but they did it with a smile on their face and more than exceeded our expectations. The resort itself is gorgeous on both sides. The food was always good. Some places better than others, but never a bad or average meal. Drink service can be a little slow but that is about my worst critique. Oh and there were several days with no music at the Royal pool right by the beach. DJ was set up but nothing playing almost all day. We had an issue on our way home that required the general managers attention and I cannot express enough my gratitude that he took the time to listen to my wife and I. It’s this level of service all around that made us rebook on site. We will be back for our 2nd trip this year September 4-13th. Can not wait to get back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not up to Sandals standards

Jun 16th, 2019

We arrived onto the property via a bus. The first thing that I noticed was that there was no waiting room at the airport for us. We had to stand (no chairs were there) and wait for a bus to pick us up. Once we got to the property the staff at the front did not even greet us. We went to grab our bags and then they finally acknowledged us. Mind you there was no cool towel waiting for us, and we were one of 4 couples. When they finally to us to the club sandals lounge again we were not acknowledged until we went to get help. There was no individualised “in processing” and there was no tour of the property offered-for that we had to come back the next day. Since we arrived before check in time the club sandals staff said we had a choice of two restaurants- something that is false. There were plenty of the restaurants that were still serving lunch but I guess she didn’t want to take us to any of them. After about an hour and a half (30 minutes past checkin time) we were able to get our room. At this point we were tired and decided to relax for a bit. But the noise from the outside vent that is in the bathroom was so loud there was no resting. We were told by the Club Sandals staff that they would take care of all our reservations and tours but only half that was correct. We went back to them to book a tour and they just pointed us to the tour desk. And when we want to book reservations they acted as if we were bothering them. Having stayed at a Sandals last year I expected higher standards but that was not the case. 1. The resort itself was ok. We did the swim up room but we only got into that pool a couple of times. The water was nice and warm but it honestly was always dirty from all the flora/fauna falling into the water. The entire 10 days we were there I saw someone cleaning the pool once. And no matter what people would walk by your room in the pool all the time. LSS - don’t bother with this type of room unless you have no intention of ever using the main pool or the beach. 2. The wait staff and all the restaurants were slow as freaking molasses. It would easily take over 20 minutes to get a drink. And for dinner it never took less than an hour and half for something that was very simple. And our room attendant was never around. Twice while we were there the room didn’t get cleaned because we waited until 1530 and she still had not come and when she did finally show up at 1600 or so we were doing something. She asked what time we would like our room done but when we said 10 she scoffed and said no she had someone at that time. Someone got to our room twice before noon. And one night they tried to do the evening call at 1030. We were asleep. And our next to last night there someone came into our room at 1030 without ringing the bell or anything. Thankfully I was asleep because I might have gone off on them. 3. The room had a vent to the outside and you could hear everything that was said in the hallway outside our door. What’s even worse the vent let in the damn mosquitos. OMG!! The mosquitos were HORRIBLE. And both my husband and I got eaten up!!! The stupid bug repellent noice makers did not help at all!!! 4. The beach was not nearly as nice as the one in Jamaica. The tides were very strong and very rarely was there a chair. I will say that there is nothing that can be done about that on the part of the hotel. They did make sure any seaweed was raked up. And it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I did go out once to the beach and I ended up having to sit by the volleyball area and got pegged twice by the ball. 5. The food was eh at best. The food was very greasy and they offered no sugar free dessert at all. 7. Barbados in general- the people are not very nice. Most people just on the street and specially at the airport were just rude. They tend to forget their primary means of income is tourism - ie that means don’t be rude to me! 8. The worst part of all is that I left my eye glasses in the French restaurant and I went back the next night and no one had turned them in. These were not sun glasses these were my eye glasses. I went back several times to see if someone had turned them in but no. Come on who does that??? So flying home and not being able to see is crap!!! Now I will say we meet several very nice people there. And enjoyed our vacation. My husband and I needed time to decompress since we really haven’t done that for a few years. The one thing that was nice was the people (guest) there. I did like the fact that we were able to enjoy the pool today before we left and that there was a nice locker room to shower and get ready for our trip home. Would I go back to Barbados? Nope. Would I do another Sandals Resort? I’d might go back to Montego Bay or maybe the Bahamas but more than likely no. The cost is not worth it. I think I will stick with cruising. I know management looks at these things and yes I am entitled to my own opinion. These are all facts and not complaining from some snob or anything. I sat and heard several people complain about the same issues so it is not just me. I will say because of this trip we more than likely will not be coming back to Sandals. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Barbados February 2019

Jun 15th, 2019

We stayed in a swim up butler suite on the lagoon. It was perfect. We enjoyed the quiet of the lagoon so much we never went to the pool. Did spend one day on the beach. They work hard to clear the seaweed. Our butlers (Aritha,Marquita, & Akiel were the best. Very very attentive and I really appreciated our decorated room and bubble bath surprise for my birthday. Everyone on the property was so friendly. And that goes all the way up to the general manager. The grounds were beautiful. If I could give this property 10 stars I would. I know we’ll be back.
