Average all inclusive

Overall my wife and I had a great trip. The food quality and selection was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. We also enjoyed the private island, and the pools. Service wasn't bad, but was hit or miss, and expected a lot more given the price tag and how Sandals prides themselves on world-class service. A few examples are: 1) Communication regarding checkout and transportation to the airport was very inconsistent and non-specific. We received several different answers around what time our shuttle would take us and when our bags needed to be ready. 2) We got in line 15 minutes early to ride the boat to the private island, and had to wait over an hour before the boat took us. Poor planning on Sandals part. 3) Ordered room service and the food order was wrong. 4) We planned on going to the private island for dinner, and asked several staff members what time the boat would be taking passengers over. Each one told us 6:15pm. After waiting 30 minutes asking another staff member we were told that they were not going that night. A sign at the dock stating this would have helped. 5) Forgot to put our food order in at one of the restaurants. The restaurant was practically empty, so can't blame it on it being too busy. 6) Very limited reservation options. Had to eat at 5:30 or 9:00. 7) Wine tasting was comical. A one hour wine and cheese tasting was four full glasses of house wine that was already included for free everywhere else on the resort. And the tasting only lasted 20 minutes so we all had to chug our glasses. Overall would have expected these type of issues at a non-Sandals resort, and expected much more. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What a beautiful resort!!!

The views are breath-taking. The service is wonderful. It was my first all-inclusive experience and I couldn’t be more pleased. Currently planning our trip to the offshore private island for tomorrow. Can’t say enough! So relaxing! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We expected more

Feb 23rd, 2020

We came for our 8th anniversary all the way from CA to change it up a bit. We usually go to Hawaii and don’t think we’ll be coming back this way soon. We came to Sandals Royal Bahamian 8 years ago for our Honeymoon and back then had a great time and the service was excellent. We feel this place has gone downhill a bit with its service and customer service. The two stars is strictly for the beautiful place you are in with the beach, pool and offshore island. They weren’t very accommodating for us who are gluten intolerant. They say they serve us GF but most of the time I was getting stomach aches after meals. I’m thinking this was from cross contamination of how they cook their food. We stayed 7 nights, but about the 4th day I’d be happy to go home. We stuck it out and tried to enjoy ourselves best we can. We had a Windsor 1 bedroom butler suite that was just “ok.” The view was great but as one person put it’s really noisy during the day 11-5 and even at night they had performances from 7:30-11:30 sometimes. You can hear everything even with the windows closed. I wish I researched more before booking this. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sandals Royal Bahamian was underwhelming

Feb 23rd, 2020

Just returned from Sandals Royal Bahamian and to say the least was underwhelmed by the experience provided by Sandals. I want to be clear we had a very nice time due to the people we met and the new friendships we made. The location is great, if a little dated and in need of some repair. The real issue is the apathetic culture which seems to exist. First whenever anything went wrong, as it did, Sandals response, without fail was, it was not their fault. From long waits for a drink at the pool bars, to disrespecting us when they were not able to provide a request for melted butter to go with lobster and a second glass of wine. In this case, we were told it would arrive right away and then never saw another server. The largest disappointment was a candle light dinner we had booked for our final night to celebrate my wife’s birthday. This was cancelled by Sandals who failed to let us know despite the fact we checked one hour prior to confirm. Sandals sells the experience, and did nothing to provide it. There were some notable exceptions which really stood out because of how rare they were. First, Courtney who taught us to sail and was great. Second, Nigel who was our server at “Baccarat” was outstanding and engaged. Finally, “Styles” a young bartender was awesome. Overall, we went to Sandals for the promised experience, but beware, if you don’t make the experience yourself, you are not likely to get it through the efforts of Sandals. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A 3.5 at best

Feb 23rd, 2020

Let me start off by saying that this is the first time I've eve been disappointed enough to write a review of anything. My husband & I made the trip to the Sandals Royal Bahamian for our honeymoon. We had an ocean front butler suite & thought we were setting ourselves up for success! Right? Wrong. First, the service. My husband & I are not generally needy people. We have no problem walking to get our own drinks& doing things on our own, therefore, we rarely asked the butlers for anything besides making our dinner reservations. With that being said, even such a simple task was not completed in a timely fashion or correctly. I put in restaurant requests the day that we arrived on the provided calendar & I still had to call the butlers multiple times each day before receiving the time of dinner for that night. On several occasions, they actually booked the wrong restaurant or told us the incorrect time. Next, we were gifted a candle light dinner on the beach (which came at an additional charge) which sounds wonderful & romantic, however, the food was of lesser quality than what was served at the restaurants. Next, the overall resort. The overall resort was dated & not exactly well kept. As I mentioned, we booked a top notch room. The shower & sink leaked constantly, their was mold on the shower curtain, and furniture was clearly "well loved" aka damaged. House keeping was hit or miss, often, a miss. The staff did not ever seem overly enthused to be there (I get it, its work for them) but it gave off some negative vibes. It was obvious that the facility knows that something is going wrong as many employees were from other locations & at this resort until it "gets functioning properly." Additionally, our room was not even remotely quiet during the day. We were located in the windsor tower & the music from the pool was so loud that it could be heard with the shower running, so taking a nice afternoon nap after a little day drinking was a total no go. A few positives were the reggae cruise (worth the money!) & the hibachi dinner prepared by Manauel (he was fantastic & very entertaining.) Overall, I feel like this resort oversold us on what it would be. We paid a pretty penny for what we had hoped would be a wonderful vacation, however, it was just so-so. Thank goodness I was in good company! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
